2004 350z damage assessment
So I've had my 350 in storage for awhile and I decided to put it back in my garage so I was transporting it and I slid on a patch of ice and did a 180 and rammed the back end into a fire hydrant. I was jus trying to find out what the price would be to get her fixed because I unfortunately did not have insurance on it during the transportation of the vehicle. I have a huge dent in the bumper and it went through the styrofoam and aluminum bar and dented the trunk. So ppl help me out!! What should I do? I will be posting the photos later on today. I really loved my car and can't believe I made such a stupid *** decision to not have insurance on it at the time.

It happened back in February. I moved from Illinois to Washington and had to leave the 350z in my parents garage. So they have been hassling me to get it fixed. I figured I'd post this to just get some feedback and bounce some ideas around. Pics will be up in a few hours

Hate to state the obvious, but OP has had several months to mull it over. Find a salvage car and purchase a new aluminum brace and probably bumper brackets off it. Also obtain the foam bumper filler and rear bumper shell and find a decent body shop to paint it. A little DIY elbow grease and most of the damage OP knows about is fixed for between $3-4K.

[QUOTE=Sk8-demon;10898145]So I forgot to mention that my driver side tire hit a curb while I was turned around in the 180 and scraped the back fender[QUOTE]
That's a HUGE oversight and the "scrape" on the rear QP has pretty much totaled your Z. OP could have saved everybody a lot of time by posting that last picture up front.

I would just need a rim and new quarter panel. I already figured I'd need a new rear end replacing axles which I found for 600. Whole new rear end. And for the bumper I wouldn't know where to start. That aluminum bar being bent has me uneasy

Also, you don't know what other things need to be fixed underneath. Don't throw your money into the pit.
You're better off parting it out and getting another Z because you'll end up putting in as much as the car is worth.. before the crash...

Yes my roommate works for maaco and has a lot of experience with body work and will cut me a deal. But I've also been looking for a salvage 350z so I can swap parts and make it somewhat cheaper. But like I said that rear end is questionable because it's dented in pretty far. To the trunk but the upper trunk is fine. The latch is fully operational and the trunk hood is undamaged.

Why is anybody bothering? OP's mind is made up and continues to obsess on the most minor piece of the damage, the bumper.... ignoring the amount of time and labor involved with the QP.

just part the car out, when mine got rear ended it barely buckled the corner panel. with them repairing that, replacing the bumper cover and taillight it was over $5k

I can see the ebay rocket bunny build already... That aluminum bumper piece isnt even needed just get some back bars for the next time, and a new rear bumper... Ebay rocket bunny kit, 2 gallons of bondo and some rattle cans you be breaking necks in no time.
Going to need some -55offset wheels though, dont skimp here... $1000 for body work and bondo... $4000 for new wheels...
Good to go for $5000
