Default Moderator note: Posting pics from photobucket

This is an FYI for anyone who uses Photobucket to host images for posting and particularly for those using them to host pics for the MARKETPLACE.

Photobucket - as many of you are finding out - has discontinued their free services and any/all images you have stored there and posted here or on any other forum sites have been "disconnected", leaving only obnoxious message boxes declaring that if you wish to link your pics back to third party sites like this one, you need to sign up and PAY them.

This isn't a big deal but if you try to post an ad in the Marketplace using images stored at Photobucket, they will not show up and ads cannot be approved without the proper "photo verification" and the like.

Just words to the wise.... Suggest you use a different image host service if you rely on such for posting anywhere.

Photosucket should've left photos taken in the past, prior to this change. Scumbags.

Wow photobucket has become an even bigger piece of sh*t than it already was. Didn't think that was possible. I guess spamming constant full screen ads on every click hasn't been working out. Fawk them. Any recommendations for alternatives?

DropBox, Google Drive, ICloud all should work atm. Most services start you with a free 5gig storage, great for pics, not for vids.

^was gonna ask what the better hosting site was...sadly, photobucket is located here in Denver...

I think I'm going to purchase 1 month ($40) so I can identify which photos I have where and then drop them...

Not sure if people know that one can upload pics from your own computer using the "Insert Image" in the tool bar above the draft window. This doesn't require a web host.

Just make sure the image is sized properly else you stretch the browser window too wide for viewers.

Guideline: Max resolution should be no larger than about 800x600. JPEG, GIF, PNG all supported.

As for Photobucket..... guess they're exercising their "exit strategy".... Screw the user base and go the way of the dodo.

I mean, REALLY? This is a sure way to make friends...

....Uh, no, won't pay for something ALREADY sub-standard.

Yeah..they want $400 if you want to be able to post pics on forums....I try to remember that i've been using them(mostly for Watch forums) for free for the last 9 years but, wow, what a shitty thing to do to people. It's pretty much ransom ware at this point. I spent the weekend moving everything to Imgur. Not as great an interface and their app isn't very good either but still free and it works so all good.

Thanks for that, Shawn. Terrasmak likes Flickr. Thoughts?

If I were any one of ya'll that's got anything on photo****et, I'd contact them and demand they release whatever photo(s) they have of your's. Unless there was something in the ultra-fine print regarding a " you give up the rights to your photos for using our services for free dumbass" stipulation, than they's got's to fork it over.
Frankly, I don't know how any of this works. I'm a caveman. I trans. photo's from my camera to my pc & that's as advanced I can care to get. If ya'll email-blast'em, I bet they'll respond.

PB has wrecked many threads on countless sites, and they deserve to be out of business for that sort of behavior. $400/yr, if correct, is also an outrageous price, and if they're poor customer care doesn't kill them, that price will. I use SmugMug, and have been hosting my pics there (I'm a very active photographer) for maybe a dozen years, and have had excellent service and reliability. $40/yr gets an unlimited account, there's a free trial available, and if anyone wants a 20% off coupon, use this link:

BUMP!! (PLEASE READ POST #1 OF THIS THREAD)

People are still using Photobucket(o'shid) to post pics in threads and NEW "For Sale" posts.

DO NOT USE PHOTOBUCKET TO HOST YOUR 3RD PARTY SITE POSTS (not just here!) UNLESS YOU HAVE PAID THEM THE REEDICK-YOU-LOUS FEE THEY'RE DEMANDING! YOUR PICS WILL NOT SHOW UP AND WILL BE HELD HOSTAGE BY THOSE SCUMBUCKETS.

I thought ransomware was illegal.... F'rs exercising a loophole.....

Why yes, I'm expressing how I really feel about them. Why do you ask?
