Default Aftermarket Fuel Pump.. Does not fit. Need help ASAP.

Ok so Im trying to install the last piece to the boosted performance 6266 single turbo kit for a DE.

And ive run into another issue. But I need help on this one ASAP. I literally have exactly 12 hours to tow this thing to the tuner tomorrow morning.

Below is my issue, the aftermarket pump will NOT go into the OEM housing.

Stock pump to the left, Aftermarket pump to the right.

Even with STUPID amount of force this thing is another 1/8th inch out of place to securely lock... And when looking clearly this pump is 1/8th " longer.

I need help guys, what am I supposed to do? Should this fit? Am I an idiot? Should i have to modify this thing to fit?

Wrong part? Will a stock pump feed 400 WHP?

Yea which is why I included the link and signed up with Flickr.

But I didn't have time to try and take another picture and reupload another one to update the picture. I've been loading the car tools and parts on the trailer and getting everything ready for the tuner.

Yes trim the clips open so they secure the pump like they did with the shorter one. Zip ties probably got you by. Let us know!

Pump held for the tune so far.

One of the water lines was leaking and we forgot to tighten the rad cap so we spit coolant all over the shop.

But what cut the tune short was when we lost boost, tuner thinks we popped a charge pipe but it looks like they are all connected. Had to call it and gatta find out why we lost boost. Ganna crawl under her tomorrow.

I also need to re do the waste gate springs.

I went off the tial web site. Red + green springs should = 10.15 PSI which is what I installed.

Dude said he was only at half throttle and it was already pushing 12lbs of boost. IIRC 8-10 should be around 400 whp with 8-10lbs.. 12+ is not where I wanna be on this stock block lol

Not yet

I can't view the picture of the pump due to PhotoBucket's lockdown however, if the 340lph and 255lph use the same pump housing, then all you need to do is trim the plastic tabs on the plastic part of the pump. There are 4 of them. If you cut/trim/grind them flush with their base, then the pump should fit VERY snug and the plastic retainer clip should clip-on at that point. The tabs themselves are ~ 1/8" tall.

Here's some pics for u man. Like above stated u have to trim the plastic tabs on the pump for the cap to secure properly. Also don't forget to drill the fuel return port and the pressure regulator to accommodate the larger flow in fuel. I used a 1/8th" bit for my aeromotive 340.

Also if the pump has a syphon port like the 340 make sure and clear space for it on the cap.

My issue isnt with the pump fitting in the housing. Its with the plastic cage in the 3rd picture you posted, the side of it that locks into the clips, is what doesnt clip in anymore.

The lower unit and bottom filter net section is fine. I just cant get it to flip and hold on the sides.

Also not sure what you did with the drill and port tho.

I will repull the pump next weekend after I get it tuned for pics and clarification. I dont wanna pull it since its working and possible prolong the tune process. This dam cars been out of action for 6 months already. Time to be done and be road ready.

OK, 9 years later, in case it helps someone else....
I am installing an AEM 340 into my 350Z, I have opened up the openings on the plastic cage where the clips snap in to about half of their original height from the bottom of the cage with a dremel. I also removed some of the thickness of the base of the plastic cage/clip. In addition ground the 4 tabs off of the bottom of the pump. Fits now!
