Default EVT Relearn

Struggling to pull up information on this, but what is the EVT learn procedure actually doing? This is the hold throttle at 2k rpm for 20 seconds, etc
I've seen lots of people suggesting that it has helped a lot with odd rpm behaviour on the HR, and some stalling issues.

My concern is my car has Tomei cams and a tweaked ecu from Esprit, would hate to try it and find it rejigs something that could bugger it.

Anyone? All I can find is that it checks the EVT profile vs the actual retardation and alters it, but does this run the risk of shifting the VVT actuation around possibly smacking the valve into the piston?

This is probably why you're not getting a lot of answers on how the OE re-learn applies to your particular issue.

Yeah you're right there, I just am wanting to know what the procedure is actually doing when you activate it. The car still responds to the other OEM learning type procedures so I'm sure this is no different.
But whether the car actually alters where the exhaust cam is phasing or something, that would be nice to know if anyone has info

It's well and good saying "Do the EVT relearn" and then when asking what EVT relearn actually is, the answer comes back "it learns the EVT"

In a very general sense, this article does a good job describing the Exhaust Valve Timing Control systems on Nissans:

https://www.autocodes.com/p0014_nissan.html

A few people have recently had issues with the P0014 / P0024 codes and the fixes on the 350Zs and Maximas are pretty much identical (see linked TSB for a more detailed system description.)

Cheers for that, I hadn't seen that bulletin. It gives at least a little bit of info regarding what the system is doing. I may just keep going with it and not bother with the reset. Maybe I'll pluck up the guts to try later.

I'm sure though that whatever VTC "profiles" have been set, they will be fine for the cam.
