take it to one of those ticket clinics, which basically is you pay a lawyer a fee to fight the ticket for you, you don't even how to show up (i don't know how it works in other states). I get off tickets everytime.
Of course, you might have to pay court fees, but better than getting points and going to school, right?

Oh, and you better "invest" some money in a good radar (Escort 8500 works for me )

sorry i was away this weekend. I know he is lying because my detector never went off. And who ever said that its because I dont have a V1 couldnt be more wrong. I pick up ka all the time and this detector has saved me numerous times. The V1 of course will be better quality, but I think the only real difference is in the range of detection.

He didnt have his headlights off behind me, otherwise he would of wrote "pacing" on the ticket instead of "checked by MR".

I've spoken to a few cops, they told me to get my detector tested by an independant company (even the manufacturer would be good enough). Basically to prove my detector is in operating order. The cop said this is the only way to prove the trooper was lying.

To everyone else who said bite the bullet: I had 2 points on my license prior to this "offense." Come this may, those 2 points would of come off. The other 2 offenses I did (spinning wheels, illegal U) were done THREE YEARS AGO. This is my first speeding ticket and it was BS. I've been driving for what, 9 years? And it's always been fast cars. Anyway, I would of gladly payed the fine had he been honest and actually clocked me with radar going the speed he said I was going. I'm probably going to get a lawyer.

Thanks for all the tips on court etc... to those of you that gave them.

I don't know - personally I think if you bring up in court that the reason you believe the cop was lying was because your radar detector didn't go off, you're going to get some strange looks from the judge before he/she throws the book at you. Even though radar detectors are legal to own and use (in most states), the fact that you have one automatically speaks volumes to a judge about your motives and/or intent. It may not be fair, but that's how it is. It's like saying you didn't run that red light because you own one of those IR beam thingys that automatically turn lights green - legal to have and use (so far), but still reeks of bad intentions.

Even if you're able to prove that your detector works, that doesn't mean it HAS to go off every time you get hit with radar. Besides, getting the detector checked after the fact won't help much either, since that doesn't really say anything about how it was working at the time you got the ticket. The judge will just say "OK, so it works now, but obviously it didn't when you got pulled over - too bad for you."

I think the best thing to do would be to hire a lawyer (as you mentioned) and see if you can plead this down to a no-points offense, because the defense you're considering above is only going to hurt you, regardless of whether the cop was lying or not.

I used to get all worked up about speeding tickets too, but I have found it really does no good to worry about it. By your own admission you were speeding. He happened to be sitting there and you were going fast enough to catch his eye. It happens. If you didn't get a chance to look at the gun during the citation then the actual speed you were going compared to what he claimed you were doing is irrelevant.

The best/easiest/most probable way to get out of it is to hire an attorney. There are lawyers out there that make their entire living off of traffic offenses. Most of the time for a minor speeding offense the fees should be under $100. What usually happens is the attorney will make a phone call to the district attorney and bargin down the ticket to a non-point/non-moving violation. You pay the fine for that instead and you receive no points on your license. You don't have to show up for anything and you don't have to argue your point with a judge who could care less about the situation. You end up paying more in fines usually but you end up saving that in the long run in the amount your insurance would have gone up.

Actually got pulled over the other day doing 40 in a 25. And the whole time I knew I was speeding, thinking... wow, no cops here... DUMBAZZZ. Anyways, cop pulls me over, over a mile into the next town (which I think I could have gotten off due to him being out of his jursdiction) but he was cool and only gave me a seat belt ticket. He even asked if that was ok? I think he liked the car!

You want a bs ticket... try 58 in a 50!

You really want a bs ticket? Try 25 in a 20. The cop also lectured me for 15 minutes about how I was going 25% faster than the posted speed limit.

I'm 23 with no speeding tickets, well except for tonight

Son of a B*#($(. So it was a great night. I met up with some HOT 18 year old whom I spend most of the night with ( I wont go into details as Im sure my post will be deleted). Anyway, coming back on a natural high I gave the z some gas.
On my way back home, I'm cruising along (wasnt going that fast). I come to a light and signal, I notice a trooper staying back behind me. Fu***ing a$$ pulls me over. I told him "ive never had a speeding ticket in my life" He said "you're about to." He told me I was going 20mph over, I asked him how he clocked me. He said " I was sitting in a parking lot doing paperwork and you flew by. So I followed you and got you doing 60mph in a 40mph zone."

Which is bull, because there was NEVER any car even remotely near me when I was driving. He pulled the number out of his a$$.

He knocked the ticket down to 49 in a 40mph when I told him I was trying to get into the state police to become a trooper (I lie well lol) .

What I want to know is, how the hell did he clock me going 60mph without a radar gun. He said he used something called stalker? Yet there was no other cars near me, including him. I think the only reason he gave me this ticket was because of 2 previous offenses I got over 3 years ago (spinning wheels and illegal uturn). F****KING S##*$T.
Is it even worth getting a lawyer? Or will they try to use those 2 past offenses against me?
This is a serious BS ticket, he wasnt even close enough to pace me. My radar detector (which works flawlessly) didnt go off. He is lying out of his a$$. But how would I prove this?

If he didn't get you on radar, it's his word against yours. You can go to court and contest it. For the most part, with no radar detector involved, the cop will not show up, and you will get off. But.....stranger things could happen! Wasn't he late for his donut run???
