Default Deleting Extra Wire WOES?

My 350z just got caged and up next is removing all the superfluous wiring that i don’t need. For example, the harness that goes from the rear hatch to the front (rear defroster, Bose amp, etc).

I am familiar that if you unplug the white ribbon on the climate control dials, the fans kick on 100% and blast my car with hot air from the engine bay.

Curious if there are other known electronics that will be ****ed up if unplugged? (like unplugging the gauge cluster and now the car won’t start).

I plan on turning the car on and off after unplugging/then cutting each connector.

thank you.

(you should keep one thread as your build thread and put all your mods in a single thread)

when I started hacking wires out I tried to keep the deleted wire harness in-tact and labeled so if I had to re-install it was just a matter of matching up wire colors. I also cut my wires relatively inconsistently so if I was unsure of a particular wire, I could judge based off where that wire was cut from with respect to other wires on that harness. I'm only talking about a few inches of variance between wires.

Lastly, I used 1/16" heat shrink and sealed off each snubbed wire to ensure it wouldn't interact with anything within the car in a negative manner.

I deleted a bunch of mine, in the end it was a major waist of time. They were not used, but they didn't really help anything removing them.

If your not putting your interior back in it does clean up the ugly interior a little bit though.

I know this sounds batsht ... but at some point I'll be disassembling my harness to eliminate the excess weight ... maybe 10-15lbs of useless wire/material/clips/etc??

I stripped pretty much all the wires I did not need anymore. I just traced every wire back to make sure I could remove it. It was a good bit of weight too (I believe it weighed 14lbs, and I removed even more later) . When I stripped the BCM harness, I bought another one on ebay for 40 bucks in case I did f something up.

Hey I’m having issues after deleting stuff. My car hasn’t ran in 2 years and I’ve slowly replaced modules, ecus, harnesses ect. It’s a fully gutted drift build. Not even windows. I’m looking to completely remove all canbus modules. I know my ecu is good (also Nats deleted) and the fuel pump always primes. But I’m getting code p1065 with no check engine light and no communication with ecu. Crank no start. I tried putting a 60ohm resistor in between pins 86 and 94 (main data lines to ecu) with still no luck. How were you able to deal with the Canbus systems after deleting modules? I’m so fed up after dumping this much money and time over the course of years just for this car to still only crank. At this point I’m looking to remove EVERYTHING. The car is absolutely stripped and no need for all of it. Just engine and pedals gotta work.

I'd check the ipdm fuses and board (also coils) personally if you know the ecu/wiring/standard diagnostics is good. Coils, ipdm, n ipdm fuses have been known to give issues like yours.

I’ve been through every single fuse and relay on 3 different IPDMs. Also tried 2 different harnesses. At this point I’m looking to trick the canbus system and remove all modules. The engine just needs to run. Everything else doesn’t really matter with my build.

And as far as the coils since I’ve heard people have had issues with that. I’ve unplugged half my engine harness at one point just to try to eliminate the chance of a coil maybe being a problem. Everytime I turn that key I’m just praying that check engine light comes on (shows communication with ecu). Which even with the entire engine unplugged. The electronics should still be powered and communicating.
