Hi,

i am experiencing some wheel hop if i do try and do a burnout on a semi dry surface, is it something to do with the diff bushing??

look on the subframe.... do you have black jizz on it right below the bushing?

Yaaay this job! The likelihood is that yes, your diff bushing is worn out. They all are at this age unless replaced. I installed urethane bushings and Z1 subframe collars in June so I'll share what I know. This job is god awful. To make it less so, you need the right tools including a saws-all to cut the old bushings out of the diff/subframe. You'll also need a friend and a week to do the job. Or 2 days if you know exactly what you're doing.

The front dif bolts need a cheater bar muscle and a proper six side socket to remove.
I recommend doing the sub-frame collars while you're in there. But know that those two bolts are horrendous as well.
I had to offset my new urethane bushing slightly further aft so that the bolts would line up.

RESULT: There's no wheel hop and the now-immediate power transfer is quite satisfying. Think hard about if you're up to this. Or send it to a shop.

Its really not that bad of a job. Yes you have to cut the factory one out. And yes you need a press and a freezer. But its not that bad. I did it twice by myself, easily done in half a day.

My diff bushing is leaking bad and I've never gotten wheel-hop on 245's or 275's . I suggest something else, but not sure what.

What else could it be? It seems to be a pretty common problem with the diff bushing?

I would inspect any bushings near the hub and shocks.

Years ago I put Traction Bars on my Mustang, and they worked great. I've never seen them on a Z tho. Not my car:
