Default Thermostat and high oil pressure

Thermostat and oil pressure

Hey guys long post but I have an 06 350Z and for maybe a month my CEL has been on. I’ve been constantly getting it scanned got consistent results which was a bad thermostat. I plan on replacing that this weekend along with spark plugs and other stuff. My gas mileage has also dropped about 2-3 mpg and I feel like my car lost some of its performance due to these problems. I also took it to my grandads hopefully to help he added oil to it because he said it needed a little but, after he added oil to it the oil pressure gauge has been reading max pressure all the time. would also be appreciate if you could check my recent post to give any advice on that.

Hhas your car been running hot or cold? What is the code that your scanner is pulling (the P#)

Does your oil pressure gauge read max when you turn the key to the on position, or only when the engine is running. It is common for the oil pressure sensor to go out and that is the symptom that is displayed. If the sensor reads maxed out with the engine off, then changing the sensor will cause it to read correctly again. Check your oil level as well just to be sure it was not overfilled and creating a frothy Starbucks latte in your internals.

what code are you getting

check your own oil.. make sure it is correct. dont want a spunky ole know it all grandpa to torch your engine.

the oil senders are commonly known to fail on these and are easily replaced.

Don't take my quote so seriously. It wasn't meant to be.

At least we are on the same page. Just solidifies the suggestions

be very careful replacing this sensor. When you replace and tighten it back-in, I believe OEM spec is 11ft*lbs … so essentially hand-tight

It only gets to max when the engine is on it jumps to the right also within 10-15 minutes of driving the temperature gauge is almost halfway
