Default Question about 350z I may purchase

Hello,
I am looking at purchasing a 350z off of someone for a good price, and yesterday I drove it and there are a few problems. There is a little bit of a grinding noise when coasting/ not accelerating, and the owner mentioned that the car overheated once and had to have the radiator replaced. Should i be super concerned about this and are there any z experts who can tell me what this noise might be?

Just need a bit of advice, thanks in advance.

the car has 140k miles and a rebuilt title.

Hello and welcome. You'll get better answers if you provide more info- miles, a few photos or vids, what year and any modifications. You can hit the edit button then the button to the right of paperclip to add photos. Some people insist on an independent mechanic inspection also. Gl!

Happy to help! I think with a little effort you can dramatically improve the cosmetics. I'm not a fan of white wheels (brake dust), putting film on reflectors designed to prevent T-bones on a small car prolly isn't the best idea but hey, it's not my car...
Speaking of bones here's one for you-
Buy slipon seat covers and use the $$$ you would have spent on seats on a mechanic's inspection. Then you'll know exactly what to expect.

I didnt even notice. I was paying more attention to the "Hoonigan" and "#aintcare" stickers and the overheated engine. Those told me all I needed to know to say "no".

Unless the price is EXTREMELY good I would stay away

its all stock besides the intake and radiator. He wants 3300 for it. The rims are now purple but could be painted obviously, and it needs new tires. he said it was previously flooded as well as previously overheated. Wondering if it would be better to just get something cleaner for around the 5k range.

Agreed. It's a Salvage title so he's got a pretty good idea. I think he's asking our opinion whether it wil be a fun car or a $$$$ pit. Which we obviously can't do.

Honestly if it were a COMPLETED salvage (all body panels repaired and matching) that would be an "OK" price. I personally wouldn't spend more than 40% of the price compared to a clean title, so the price is definitely high.
The noise when coasting MAY be "chatter" which is typical and usually harmless, but I cannot hear it so dunno...
There are stories of Z33s going 2-300K miles however this one may have had a hard life. Don't know what your budget for repairs is like but at that price I'd tell him to pound sand. Looks like mb a $2k car to me.

$5k w/ a salvage title? And those stickers and mismatched body panels...? Run.

Sold my 04 stock with 113k for $4500 last year. Clean title.

3300 for a salvage title with an engine that’s been flooded plus overheated is too much I wouldn’t pay over 3k. You can find clean title 350z for 5k and under they usually have mid to high mileage which affects the resale value. If you’re willing to pay over 5k then you’ll really be set

I don’t really think the mismatch panels mean anything they could just be wrapped. I like the mismatch panel look I’m thinking about doing it myself but instead I’d make the car black with blue or red wine panels.

Might be painted.... just looking at the car it's a huge piece of crap, cracked bumper, bumper not aligning with fender right, flooded, overheats. I mean if op is a balla on a budget and willing to dump cash, most with a brain would not consider this

IMHO, you have a handful of non-negotiable issues wrapped up into one. Flood damage alone being one of the biggest. You could do a lot better with a little more cash.

Agreed. I was trying to read posts on my phone, walking my rescue dog. Wrecked, incomplete salvage work, overheated and flooded.
OP- RUN, you can do so much better!!!
