Default Prepping a stock 350z for some light drifting

I recently got my own 2007 Enthusiast 350z and it is my daily driver but I would still love to occasionally do doughnuts and drift corners. It is an automatic and I know some people will say it's impossible to drift without a clutch kick but I know that it is possible.

What steps should I take before attempting any sliding? Of course turn off Traction Control but should I remove the abs fuses as well or is that not as important? Do I truly need to have a welded diff or an LSD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!https://nox.tips/ Mobdro https://pnrstatus.vip/

The ABS, traction control, and ignition are one fusible link (at least in my 2005 without VDC). The car will not start if you remove this fusible link, so your only option is to cut the connections inside to fully disable ABS and traction control. Get ready for a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on your dash if you go this route. Don't do this if your car is street driven.

Automatic cars that are truly capable of drifting have high horsepower and torque (think Hellcat, Vette, etc.). No one ever accused a stock 350Z of having either. Welding the diff in your case will mainly just bark the tires as you turn in parking lot, making you look like a tool. I had a welded diff in one of my desert trucks and while that allowed it (a manual trans in that one) to do donuts on the street with ease, driving anywhere else was an embarrassment.

Summary: see terrasmak's post above.

I’d think about doing a driving school. By far the best mod you can do.

Anybody who says that doesn't know what they're talking about, and anybody who listens is in the same boat. Your auto Z will do fine for a beginner learning to drift. Be prepared to spend more than you expect on tires (+ mount/balance) and repairs.

Everyone here has been that ignorant beginner at some point, but please, please, please do not practice on the street. Take it to your local track/autox, even circle tracks will hold beginner drift practice events. Find one and go, you won't regret it.

If you do want to practice on the streets I'd recommend against getting the 6mt. Just give it a little time and you'll wrap your AT around a pole, then you can get the 6mt.
