its almost impossible to do even with the auto-shift

im sure you can do it for a while but on a long course it just doesnt make sense

you dont have enough control of the gears and downshifting to do it

Sure you do. You need only use fient drift and power application techniques.
The only restriction is not being able to clutch kick or shock the driveline.
I drift my G sedan AT all the time! It is something new to most people who see it done in an auto, but I grew up "drifting" my Daddy's AT pickup in our empty field and twisty backroads. Later we did the same in friends AT Mustangs and AT Trans Am GTA.

When you think about it, ATs have been in sideways use for many years, however, to build a purposeful drift car with an AT
would shock the scene! (and afford you slightly less control over the drivetrain)

learn2turn, you actually go to drift events with the G or just on back roads and stuff?

Tscuchiya-san drifted the Esprit TT 350Z in one of the Z-off videos, that Z was AT.

I've drifted an A/T G35 Coupe and it was pretty good actually. There are a ton of ways to initiate drifts, hardly any of them require a clutch kick. Keep your speed up, use manual mode and it's really easy.
