Default What years to avoid?

I am looking at buying a 350z, from what I've read there have been some years that are better than others. At the moment i have my eye on an '04 with 89k miles on it for 5,500. I have about 8k to spend. Is it worth buying that and then putting the left over into upgrades or should i look for a later year?

Short answer is Buy an HR (2007-2008)
If you are not buying an HR, get the lowest mile nicest trim you can find because it doesn't matter
Earlier non fixed Revups had an oil consumption problem (2005 Anniversary edition and 2006 Manual cars only) last half of 2006 they seemed to be fine, I owned an 06 (aug 2006 on the door jam) for over 100k miles it never consumed more than 1/4 QT of oil in 4000 miles.

2006s will get you all the nice things the HRs got, interior and exterior wise, and the Revup Engine (ITS NOT AN HR) that revs a bit higher. If the LED Tail lights and HID headlights, bigger and better base brakes and, the slightly updated interior means a lot to you and you dont want to pay more for the HR tax then find an 06

Nothing wrong with an 04 DE. I'd say go for it and use the rest of the money to start modifying. You won't regret it.

Get some service details and see what was replaced. Then go on from there.

What's the purpose of this car? Will it be a drift, track, daily or a second car?
