Default 350z maf issue

I’ve got a 2003 350z. Recently replaced the alternator on and then a few days later the car would randomly die while driving. I’ve had a code for the MAF that has never given me issues. So I replaced it. Still the same problem start and instantly dies. Swapped the pigtail harness out as well with no luck. But the thing is I can run and drive The car with the maf unplugged but in limp mode. Could the maf I replaced it with be faulty. Anyone else run into this kind of issue?

Yes, any electronic part can be faulty. I would try to find the Nissan troubleshooting flowchart. How old is your air filter? Also worth checking the connection to your throttle body for leaks. GL!

Replaced the air filter today because that was actually really bad. Reset the ecu and still the same thing. I’ll take a look at the throttle body tomorrow

So your alternator was confirmed bad and you bought a Nissan replacement new or remanufactured? Or did you buy a refurbished one from AZ, Advance, O'Reily, etc? Same for the MAF? How did your battery terminals look when disconnecting the ground cable for the alternator change?

You're chasing a problem that started after the new alternator, right? Nissans are very susceptible to gremlins from inferior electrical parts. If I were you, I'd put my old MAF back in, get a Nissan alternator and see how it does.
