I SOMETIMES randomly get the slip light flashes and the rpms cut off temporarily when under hard throttle around 55mph+ during entrance/exit ramps to the freeway. I've only noticed this occurs during corners or curvy turns. Im running a square setup 18x9.5 wrapped in 265/35. Is the square setup messing with the VDC or is there something else that is causing the light to flash? I'm curious to know if other people running a square setup has experienced similar issues and how they have resolved it.

Yes, it's your square setup. The TCS/VDC systems like the rear tires to be about 2% larger in diameter than the fronts. Variations in the system allow some folks to run your setup with no problems at all, while others get the SLIP light at even modest acceleration.

my guess is that someone with better knowledge of tires is going to say the rears are too short

Just wondering, Is it fine to run wider tires in the rear (say 285) on wheels that are all the same size? For my case it would be 18x9.5 all around but 265/35 in front and 285/35 in rear. Would that work?

why are you stuck on the 35 aspect, i think you need to bump it up to 40

that would work perfect as far as the car is concerned. The wheel width is ok, but I would really want a wider wheel for a 285 width tire

I kinda like the meaty look with the tires. Gonna try 285/40 in the rear. Did the calculation and it’s atleast +7% in width in the rear. Hopefully it works out.

the concern is the difference between front and rear, not new tires vs original tires.

it say drive there more often and then it will be second nature. Its all in the mind. Picture yourself you are driving and you don't feel afraid in any way. Freeways and highways are considered to be one of the safest roads.
