Default VQ37 Heads on VQ35

So I just recently bought a 350z and it’s got a blown head gasket. My original plan was to swap another motor into it but I had the bright idea of just swapping the heads and changing the gasket. Then I had the other bright idea of putting the heads from a 370z on it instead. So my question here is does anybody know if the heads for the 370z will fit on the 350z’s block. (I’m assuming yes but I’m just making sure, any help is appreciated)

No, I don't think so, there isn't a benefit to it either.

You can use a 3.7L block under HR heads but you cannot use VHR heads on an HR, the computer cant do anything with those.

Lets just answer the nuts & bolts question first?

What year is your 350z??

If your z is an HR engine than good news!! You can put VHR heads on an HR block … it is possible, they are compatible.

Now the badnews … VHR heads have variable valve lift that your 350z will not be able to control and thus VHR heads will not work on an HR block. I further dont know how the domes work between the two sets of heads - so your compression could be all screwy.

VHR heads will not fit on a DE block.

You are thinking of this backwards … everyone with an HR puts their HR heads on a VHR block!

Just have your existing heads machined, new head gaskets, new headstuds, and bolt everything back together.

like where youre head is at and nissan does quite a bit of cross-pollinization but in this case it’s a bridge too far.
