The blocks have different part numbers. You can compare on any Nissan parts website.

^^ Tranverse

^^ Longitudinal.

Trust us. Some of us (like me) have done this swap and if I could have used a Maxima short block at 1/2 the price, I would have.

I'm quoting from sites that say they are all the same engine, every site says they fit, I seen it done on YouTube videos, and talked about on websites, idk

I have over 6000 posts on this forum. How much more research do you think I need?

But here is a good post if all the above info doesn't have you convinced yet.

I just signed up to this forum specifically to say this
You sir are a ****ing idiot and clearly have no idea what youre talking about, youre babbling on like a 3 year old, shut the **** up your youtube videos if you opened your ears actually completely disproved your theory 😂 if you actually think you can just bolt up a fwd vq35de out of a maxima into a z or g chassis then it is clear you should never turn a spanner and keep talking **** on forums with info out of context from wiki and youtube, in conclusion Im currently going through a similar swap from z chassis to g chassis, if anyone has any pointers to look out for that would be amazing.

Just wanted to comment here in case anyone else is (like me) doing an engine swap and arriving to this old thread from Google. Do not listen to Subd, he is wrong. The other posters have correctly pointed out that you cannot drop in a FWD DE into a 350z.

Default Subs is horribly wrong!!!

I literally joined as a Nissan Technician who has changed more VQ35 DE’s specifically than you’ve probably seen on videos and real life combined that the FED and RWD are the exact same electronics heads valvetrain everything but the block casts are different 100% guaranteed a FWD block will NOT go in a RWD setup PERIOD. nor Vice Versa! I’ve seen it done but by people building a car not replacing an original engine anyone with welding knowledge could clearly fabricate a bracket to fit but SUBD it is NOT the same no matter what you think or post and by the way if your going to post videos to prove your point then post videos that Do Not contradict what your trying to say! Your videos even prove you completely wrong so get over it dude!

Thankfully Subd has been MIA for over a year now.

Maybe he's busy building a FWD Z with a VQ35DE out of a Maxima to prove us all wrong

He's the dude I want to sell the Golden Gate Bridge to.

"Look at my YouToob site, There's a video of me holding the bridge's pink slip!!

And pity da fool who doesn't know everything on the interwebs is true!"

So @subd, your opening offer? 550k? Ooops, you've been outbid. Do I hear 900k...?

This replay of this thread ought to make him as big of a jokebutt as the "Thanksgiving crasher." 👿

were talking about the engine so keep in mind that the ecu is tuned differently, and depending on year, but keep in mind that revup and Nismo engines will be different,
