When I got the Z almost 4 years ago, it had been stored outside and there was some mouse nests and damaged sound insulation that I had to clean up. I also left traps in the car and caught a stray mouse or two, as well.
I've gone ahead and set a couple of traps in the car, for now. But, I'm wondering if others have discovered the most-likely entry points and how best to deter pest intrusion.
It looks like they were storing food for Winter in my door vent I think there is a fresh-air inlet at the cowl - could adding some screening there deter this kind of thing? Anyone had luck with keeping the little buggers out? I'm in south-east Michigan, for reference.
Your electrical wiring is most at risk. My number 1 suggestion is go to The Humane Society and adopt a cat. Seriously, win/win.
Next are traps baited with peanut butter, moth ***** and chicken-wire over fresh air inlet. (Rodents can easily chew through window screen mesh). Almost forgot - steel wool really slows them down at small points of entry. If you can find stainless steel wool (hardware store) you'll have less concern for rust. Gl!
We have 2 cats, but they are indoor cats, unfortunately. That said, I've seen the odd outdoor cat meander by on the Ring camera at the outside of the shop garage.
Mice ate the wiring on the top of my fuel tank . . . nested in my air filter box, and nested in the box where our dash fan is located (smelliest location ever).
Apparently mice love the new Honda wiring . . . we have a brand new Honda Civic sport (turbo) . . . they love that thing.
Yeah, while I've owned it I found a nest in the airbox and damage to the wires to the radiator fans that I had to repair. I also had nests in the airbox of my V70R and Ram2500 before.

Cool! We've been here in MI over 5 years, now. We looked at homes in your old area, too (really liked one on Foldenauer), but found ours off of County Farm and Norton in Marion Twp.
Just to close this one out, I added screens to the cabin vents at the back quarter panels as well as on the fresh air inlet under the cowl and I have not had mouse troubles since (so far).
