Default Odd front turn signal issue

Have a 2006 Z - manual touring… front left indicator went out( or I assume it did) got the typical quick flash which typically indicates a bulb is out.

the amber bulb that came out was a 7440……I took it
with to the auto parts store, bought the identical bulb, installed it and it doesn’t work🤬

tried both new ones. Tested the socket - definitely getting power as the tester bulb was flashing .Looked in the owners manual and it shows a different bulb- 3457? So I purchased that one too and it won’t even stay in the light socket- so doesn’t work either🤷🏼‍♂️

any idea where to go from here?

cheers

I believe the turn signal bulb size is 3157 or 3457. Technically, 3457NA (with the 'NA' denoting that the bulb is amber in color as opposed to clear). 3457 is the same base as the 3157, but it is usually brighter since they come in higher wattages.

7440 is a single filament bulb. 7443 is a dual filament bulb. However, the bases of the two are the same shape.

The bases of the 7440 and 3457 are different shapes and use different sockets, so maybe you have some aftermarket lights or the previous owner did something?

If the replacement bulb fits in the socket, but it doesn't light up, try flipping it around 180 degrees if it's an LED bulb and polarity sensitive.
