Default Question on Interior Lighting

I just had a shop install a new Pioneer head unit in my Z. After the installation, the climate control ***** only illuminate when I turn the headlights on. Before the installation, I recall that the climate controls illuminated when the ignition was on independent of the headlights. Am I correct on this?

I second this possibility. ^^^

Worst case, the ribbon cable is damaged. Very easy to damage by a ham handed installer.

The shop said that they inspected the ribbon cable and it looked fine. I will probably just replace the cable. Looks easy enough to do. As I understand, you cannot get these cables separately from the climate control box (probably expensive) but I saw them from 3rd party suppliers. I will also put some ACF-50 on the connectors; that stuff works great on electronics.

Some of the leds behind the control ***** should illuminate independent of the headlights. For example, the A/C, defrost, and recirculate indicators. However the main **** illumination (backlights) should not activate unless the headlights are turned on.
