Question Intake Valve Timing Control Issue??

Hello! I have a 2003 Nissan 350z Touring Coupe, and I just got this code thrown, and I am confused why it would be throwing two P0011 codes, I am not sure what this would be whether it would be the throttle body, and if so I would just get a 75mm throttle body, but that would be unfortunate because about a month and a half ago somebody ported and polished it, but anyways, If somebody could help that would be great, thanks.

Would be easier to get an answer if you started ONE thread with all of your codes instead of a different thread for each code. Start by looking at your IPDM or ECM since you have multiple codes in different systems.

Default My z also has P0011 and P0014 codes

Need some help from anyone please. My car has codes P0011 and P0014 camshaft sensor bank 1. I’ve had the crankshaft position sensors, camshaft position sensors, timing chains, sprockets, tensioners, seals, and vvt solenoids all swapped to new OEM parts and the damn codes pop right back up. I’m in 2500$ at a mechanic shop and I take it home 15 miles later check engine comes back on 4th time taking it back. Now I’m being told it might need to be reflashed which will surely get me to 3k and I’m not sure that’s even the solution. Anyone deal with this issue before? SOS!!!

Most likely you need new camshaft position sensors. These are fairly cheap and relatively easy to install if you are handy with a wrench. If not, it's less than an hour at a shop.

Often one issue is causing multiple codes so you might just address them one at a time. Don't try to fix multiple codes at the same time.

If you had the heads off for a port and polish job, it's very possible whoever did the re-install work got the timing out of spec one tooth for the intake cam on bank 1. You may need to reset the timing (meaning re-do the timing chains). Usually, when you get the same code after replacing sensors with OEM parts, it means there's a mechanical fault...not electrical!

Unfortunately in his scenario, I don't think you can easily verify the intake cam's position without removing the timing cover. My buddy made the same mistake on his B5 Audi S4. Intake cam chain was off 1 tooth after he replaced the half-moon cam seals and did a timing belt job. We had to re-do the whole job to fix the problem. The engine seemed to run fine with the mistake, but the computer/sensors can still detect the fault. Good thing we re-did the job, because I discovered other mistakes that were made which could have caused serious damage/repair bills if left alone.

If you can get a live data scanner, I would monitor the timing advance for the intake cam on bank 1 and compare to bank 2. If all is well, they should be about the same.

Good Luck!

Just realized you were referring to a throttle body port/polish job, not the heads!

Since you modified the throttle body, make sure to do an idle air relearn, you may also need to do a throttle position relearn. But before that is done, check for vacuum leaks around your intake. Or you could just try installing the OEM throttle body back on and see if that makes any difference.

Focus on camshaft position sensors, address one code at a time, and verify correct timing chain installation. Monitor live data for accurate diagnosis. If you modified the throttle body, perform an idle air relearn, throttle position relearn, and check for vacuum leaks.
