Are you going to do any modifications to the car?

Both are great engines and despite their very similar names and proximity to each other (in generation/vehicles) they are relatively different.

Know that either engine will be susceptible to failure if you do not perform routine maintenace, you neglect it, or you abuse it. If you’re going to drift the car I would plan on doing oil/filter changes after each event, transmission fluid, diff fluid, and power steering fluid flushes every few events.

Most the VQ drift guys in colorado lose an engine once or twice per season.
