Brake and Cluch switch grommets
I suppose I could take a deep dive into the workings of the ABS to satiate my curiosity as to how millimeters of a plunger switch would make the brakes go haywire, but that will have to wait until another day.
This is basically what happened in a nutshell. The grommet for the stop lamp switch disintegrated one night. I replaced the worn out grommet. After replacement, I guess I pushed the plunger all the way in when I reinserted it into the collar. This caused the brakes to drag at any speed without any pressure on the brake pedal. My theory is that the plunger was putting pressure on the brake pedal. I pulled out the switch completely and drove it home. Brake pedal travel and feel were normal with the switch connected to the harness but the plunger was fully extended. I got home. Disconnected the battery and let it sit. I reconnected everything and inserted the stop lamp switch back into the retaining collar. I guess that this time around, I did not push the switch all the way in like before, but it was still too far in. There was no brake drag, but the brakes were extremely touchy. A small tap would almost make it come to a full stop. All braking issues were completely resolved with the stop lamp switch properly inserted into the retaining clip.
Just stopping back by to let everyone know that the problem hasn't returned.
The fix seems to work................................. Until another grommet fails. LOL

Good follow-up. Same here. I haven't had any brake issues. The Z doesn't get driven as much with the summer tires and temps being sub-40 degrees, but it does seem some road time. I ended up replacing all the pedal grommets as preventative maintenance except for the grommet in the accelerator assembly as that install looked like it would take longer than a couple minutes - maybe like 10.
