AC compressor Troubleshooting
Hey all. I’m needing some help regarding what my mechanic is saying. I’ll give some background
nissan 350z Drifted out by previous owner
AC high and Low lines were cut and compressor removed
i have replaced the following
installed new high and low pressure lines. The 2 going to the condenser and the 1 long one going from the firewall to the compressor
Attempted to refill myself with a set of gauges and r134
AC clutch wouldn’t engaged
replaced AC controller and Amp due to flashing flights
AC blower comes on and AC is turned on
decided to take to the mechanic and he said the following
he said he had to rewire the harness for the AC ( I believe that because this harness was a different one for this motor since it’s not the original one )
he then sent a video of the AC clutch running but he still couldn’t build pressure and suggested replaced the AC compressor
is there something else I could look at before replacing the compressor? Any reason why it can’t build pressure?
I haven’t visually verified to see if the AC expansion valve is still installed but I have no visual reason to suspect that it’s not installed in the car. (I believe the whole passenger side dash and blower has to be removed).
he is charging me $500 so far and wants to charge me $299 for a new compressor and $375 for install. $375 install is too much in my opinion when I could install it myself like I did with the current one that’s installed.
