Anyone have experience with the Fast Intentions RHFCs?
Hello again
I'm looking into replacing the god awful test pipes and not sure what to get. I have the test pipes and a non resonated Z1 Touring exhaust and wondering if anyone had experience enough to direct me in the right direction.
Ive got the reccomendation in the past to go for HFCs and add resonators as needed but thinking since my catback has no resonators I could just kill two birds with one stone. However I haven't seen much content out there talking about the FI RHFCs.
I'm looking to cut out the tinnyness and rasp (standard stuff) but keep a deep throaty growl. I think the catback will be pretty good once I replace the test pipes. Just not sure what to go with

HFCs would be the way to go if emissions are tested to pass inspection. If not, then I bet you can accomplish reducing rasp with a decent set of resonated test pipes without reducing exhaust flow. Motordyne ART pipes are pretty much the gold standard but there are other options out there. Some even have the same integrated helmholtz resonators.
FI are about the only test pipes/cats I don't have experience with. I'm currently running Berk resonated test pipes and have 0 complaints with them. FWIW, these are my experiences:
Berk resonated test pipes - currently on car and the best I've had so far.
Berk HFC - also good, but threw a P0420 code after a couple years.
AAM resonated test pipes - Garbage. Didn't fit at all so I ended up selling them.
Motordyne ART pipes - overpriced and overrated. Worst smelling test pipes of all time.

I'm confused by the experience with Motordyne's ART pipes. I ran a set of these for about 1.5 years without issue, I also purchased at a time when the price was reasonable, I'm sure times have changed and prices have gone up. The smell issue though, I never experienced. Sure you get that classic no-CAT stink, but any testpipe will give you that. On new full exhaust systems, it's common to get some burn-off odors from anti-corrosion or machining/bending oils/greases used during the mfg. process, I had this in spades when my old school Bassani catback was 1st installed. It took about a week of driving to fully burn off.
Fast Intentions makes good stuff. I believe they are located right next to Specialty Z, my good bud with a 94 Z32TT is running a full 3inch Fast Intentions exhaust system. Very high quality construction.
Cheers!
