Default Urgent Recall

I just received a post card in the mail informing me that me Z has an urgent recall. Here's what is says:

Your 03 automobile is in need of correction to assure its continued safe operation. You have been notified by your automotive division of the existing problem (NOT!) but you have not taken steps to have the correction made. We urge you to call for an appointment As Soon As Possible. This is extremely important.

I called the dealership and the service dept is closed today. Does anyone know what this is about? Is it safe to drive my Z?

Thanks

It didn't tell you WHAT the problem is specifically? Id be a little pissed if I got such an unspecific warning letter.

Default crankshaft position sensor

It's probably the crankshaft position sensor. See http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...odel_year=2003 .

I wouldn't worry about it THAT much. The annoucement was ALL over the press at the end of October 2003. Every time I called the dealer about my Maxima (which was potientially affected), they didn't have the notification yet, blah blah. Finally they told me to call NNA back in late Jan or early Feb 04. I gave them my VIN and they said, nope you've got not recalls on your Max.

But sure enough, a few weks ago, I got the notice in the mail on my Max. I never had any problems w/the crankshaft position sensor or the SES light coming on cuz of it.

If the repair is the same as mine (vin #137) it should take a bout an hour, I am surprised your vin falls in to that recall?
