I did a search for traction control and looked at the first three pages, didn't see what I was looking for. Question is:

I have a 2004 Enthusiast, every time I turn the car on, traction control is on by default, is there anyway for traction control to be off by default and I can just turn it on when I want it? I find this to be quite annoying how it is on by default. I also skimmed the manual but I didn't see anything pertaining to what I want. Thanks in advance for any help.

 

I would love to know this answer too. However, I think b/c of the new safety guidelines this must be on as a default setting. They have done studies and noted that accidents have been going down b/c of this feature being installed in the new vehicles. I do hear ya though, it sucks ***! It automatically kills the gas when it turns on...

 

I am not exactly sure about safety regulations since the base model 350Z doesn't even have the VDC...

 

You can wire in a delayed pulse relay. It will pulse the switch after you start the car and turn TCS/VDC off.

 

Nissan likes having things turn on by default i think... ie the air conditioning

 

I have seen someone on this board selling something like this, but I recall it being a bit overpriced. (sorry, but I can't find the thread now.)

The IS300 people found a solution to this problem a long time ago. All you need to do is replace the stock normally-open switch with a normally-closed (NC) one. When you turn the car on, it thinks you pushed the button and turns TCS/VDC off. When you do push the button, the computer sees a signal edge and turns it on! If you find out who makes the switch, they probably have a NC one the same size so it can be a direct replacement. I just haven't had time to do that.

The TCS switch does not "click". My guess is that it is a momentary contact switch that sends a pulse to the computer.
