Sales for the Z overall are down. But considering much of the original hoopla is over it still is the best selling sports car in the world(I believe). Not a bad title to have.

NEW motor trend article says

350z sales down 27% for 2004

yes the hoopla has cooled but they also say

BMW Z4 sales are up 51%

corvette is down 34% but understandable since its new this september

nothing on the RX8

PRICE WISE THE Z,S still the best bet id say.

theres really no other car id want aside a vette but its an extra 10,000.

as for BMW im not a yuppie and my head hits the ceiling in there convertables.

RX8 like the trick doors otherwise if i had a choice id get an RX7.

CANT WAIT TILL THE auto show this aprill in NYC

Nope. I've heard that the Z is the "best selling sports car" from many other places too, but who knows where they get their data from? It's certainly NOT true in the US. I'm not clear which is, but if you look at the URL below, you'll see that the Mustang FAR outsells the Z. They sold 10,634 last month vs. 2,406 350Zs.

In response to bronxwarrior, well, back in December 03, RX-8 sales for the month had almost caught up to Z sales. 2,079 RX-8s vs. 2,124 350Zs. Now there's a big gap.

mustang used to sell 200,000 a year or something nuts like that. its dropped sharply.

but its not TECHNICALLY not a sports car. not my thoughts, but by definition, S2000, Z, boxster ect are sports cars, mustang has a back seat, itd be like calling the G35 coupe or RSX a sports car. they are sports coupes, or touring cars or something else. they are able to outsell due to them having 4 seats appealing to more people. its not a indication of the car itself, but the platforms appeal.

cmon..dude

mustangs are FLEET sales cars.

Most crustangs out there are not even Gts and are sold to enterprise and other car rental co's.

Even as a GT - I *still* dont think it qualifies as a "sports car"

I dont want to get into the age old debate of "what is a sports car"...but lets say two seats only.

Default # of seats

So the 4-seater Porsche 911s and 4-seater Audi TT coupes aren't sports cars?

Back to Mustangs, they sold 140,350 last year in the US.

I don't know how you feel, but I would prefer to see and RX-8 outsell the 350Z. I like not seeing a bunch of 350Zs on the road.
I couldn't stand my old car because I felt like I was sitting next to one at every stoplight. The Z is unique. I would like to see it stay that way.

Well in that respect, you could expect the aftermarket to shy away from the Z if it wasn't selling the way it is. There is no reason to produce aftermarket parts if there is no one to buy them!!!
