The gauge doesn't matter at all. It is not even close to accurate. You measure mileage by dividing your miles driven by the amount of gas required to fill it all the way back up.

I don't know if this is true or not, but how do you know it's not even close to accurate?

My gauge reads: 16.5 MPG Avg (yes, I have reset it after going FI)
I get about 175 miles to a tank...almost completely empty
Tank size: 20.0 gal

16.5 X 20 = 330 Miles before empty

When I measure manually (not exact, but fairly accurate): 9 MPG Avg
Tank Size: 20.0 gal

9 X 20 = 180 Miles before empty ~ 175

Pretty consistently 21.x, combined city/highway, according to the dash readout. Not trying to baby it or be crazy. Haven't done the manual thing yet.
