Credit Card style ignition?!?!? NO key, use a credit card to swipe and start your Z!
Some kid was telling me about how his key to his new z was a credit card, I thought he was BS'ing. THEN I was watching a Best Motoring dvd with a Fairlady Z and it had the credit card slot, and when the card was inserted the z would start!
What kinda crazy stuff is this, anyone have that in there Z?

That's been posted about here. A member from Japan said that it was a toll payment system. Not sure though.

Now if only there was a slot that dispensed $20 bills like an ATM machine.

My nissan dealship pushes a device that makes it so you have to slide in a card like thing before you can turn the key with out having that card the car WILLNOT start and if it does and the car is stolen then the company who sold the device would pay up to like 6K
Im "guessing" thats what their talking about

I use E-pass here in Florida and they send you a bill later on to pay. I think this card thing uses a credit or debit card and charges directly so you can't have late payments or anything. They'd still probably send a statement to make sure they have everything down right.

But I thought the E-pass only worked because when you go through the e-pass lane they take a picture of your car and look for the sticker (and i'm sure take a picture of your license (<sp.?) too). I don't know how they get the information from your car to pay for it.

EDIT: There are some lanes that don't have the E-pass logo on the signs over the lane, which means you can't go through that lane with the E-pass (it will give you a $100 fine).

Yup, you guys are right. I'm referencing my Hyper Rev magazine and from what I can get, it's for tax (toll) collection. ETC stands for Electronic Tax Collection System and it's made by Panasonic.
