Were you actually drag racing? If so, be a man and take your punishment - you got caught.

Looking for stupid technicalities on your ticket probably won't help you, and it'll make you look desperate. My best suggestion is to hire a lawyer, go to court, and try to negotiate with the DA for a lesser charge/penalty in exchange for a guilty plea.

Go to court tell them you're guilty, you're sorry for wasiting their time and that you were very stupid for street racing

then sit back and just let it be

btw what country was it in?

chances are since you have NOTHING no tickets/crashes the judge will lower your points/fine

but as always it depends on what judge you get as with what side of the bed he woke up on

either way if you go to court don't push the wrong address or anything else you might think would get you out of the ticket becuase the judge will let you have it

unless you know 100% that having the wrong info will get you out of the ticket DO NOT use that for your case once again hes just going to want to come down harder on you for trying to get out of it

just say you're sorry and messed up and you're very very very dumb for doing so

p.s what was your speed on the ticket?

dude... F that. one of my friends got there speeding ticket
dissmissed because the cop wrote down the wrong bday.
call the court, find out what you can. when ur court date
comes, talk to the judge personally. i'm not sure whether to
deny it or admit guilt, thats up to you. its on ur concience.
but for 5 points, def try to get out of that b****

the cop didn't write a speed down.....their was no clocked speed it was an undercover cop in Maryland......he saw me and my friend ****ing around and then we pulled next to each other and lit up our tires at a light and we didn't see the cop at all....after we were done he flew by me and flew over a median on the right and cut me off almost hitting the cop.....it was crazy....

I've ignored tickets that i've gotten before because they wrote the wrong address, even after I told the cop I had moved. I eventually got a notice saying my license was suspended unless I paid the fine @ any district court in MD, and i got 1 point-for speed greater than reasonable and prudent---->I got a ticket for racing down in Ocean City, MD on Coastal Hwy, I flew by 2 cops on bicycles, and they called ahead and had a cop pull me over in a car. Then the 2 bike cops rode to where I was stopped and proceeded to reem my a$$ out...lol. Dont ignore the ticket, get a lawyer and go to court. BTW where in MD did this happen??

There is only one thing to do. Call a criminal law attorney who has 10+ years experience with traffic.

And...since I've been drinking...I'll add...stop...using...the...messed...up morse....code....it's hella annoying.

Seriously, do what I said in my first sentence. There really isn't much more to do than that. Good luck.

I would DEFINATELY get a Lawyer. That is a pretty big ticket. He can give you advice. In Virginia they can take your car. Do you have to go to an Advicement hearing? If so You NEED a lawyer.

I'm glad you don't live near me. Drag racing belongs on the track. I've gone 5 times in my Max and will soon on my Z. It's silly and irresponsible to do it on a public road esp. given that you might injure or kill an innocent driver who happened to be in the area.

As for the original poster and technicalities, I'm in disagreement w/dchengmd on this one. We've got a lawyer up here w/very good repuation for getting tickets thrown out on technicalities. If you could find one...

all Im saying is if you know for sure it will get tossed out great but if you're not sure and you show up to court and tell the judge well this is wrong and this is not right

he will chew your *** out!

I had a friend who was pulled over for doing like 60 in a 50 my friend had different gears then stock and never changed the speedo thing over so he took his car to a garage and had them write up a letter stating that the speedo was off and that his car was really showing that he was going the speed limit....

he took that to the judge and judge read it then looked at my friend and asked.... how long have you been driving? so you're telling me that after X many years you can't tell when you're driving over the speedlimit?... he went on and on he tore him a new one and gave him the max fine as with the point

funny thing is every one that pleaded guilty got off yet he had his *** handed to him

most courts in maryland if you have'nt had a speeding ticket in 2 years they will just drop it and make you pay the court fee $35 bucks

DO NOT go in there saying so and so is wrong and you should get off becuase of it.... unless you know for sure it will work don't bother

If I was you I would find a lawyer friend and start asking questions =)

Being a lawyer I wanted to comment on the issue. First of all, rarely does the information on the ticket you get matter. The ticket the cop writes you is for your records. As you all know, the cop either takes your license and registration from you and goes back to his vehicle and/or motorcycle and punches information into the computers they carry. He will either punch your plate number in before he approaches the vehicle (to determine if there are outstanding warrants, stolen vehicle, etc...) or he will do this with your license and registration and/or proof of insurance (depending on what state you live in). Therefore, it doesn't matter what is written down because there is a record of your plate number in his computer.

Also, if a speed limit was not written down on the ticket along with an actual speed of your vehicle, then it is a whole different monster at that point because you are now being cited for either "Reckless Driving" or "Speed Exhibition/Contest". At that point, it doesn't matter if you were doing 5 or 155 on the road. I dont know the laws of your state, but 5 points for speed exhibition is pretty steep. Your best bet is to get an attorney in your area who handles traffic violations. These are the guys that you see in traffic court that have multiple clients at the court house in traffic court every morning. They have relationships with the judges and/or city attorneys who are prosecuting. They are able to get the fines and penalties reduced. Since you say you have a clean record and have no prior tickets, this should be no problem to reduce and/or eliminate all together. If you are not going to get an attorney and/or you cannot afford an attorney (which I doubt since you are driving a relatively expensive vehicle), ask the court for leniency (assuming you are going to plead No Contest to the charge)

As for sitting around and waiting to get your court date because of the sloppy penmanship, you may get lucky if the cop didn't input your information elsewhere, but DONT rely on that. Cough up the couple hundred and it will the attorney fees will pay itself off in the money you will save in hiked insurance rates.

Get a traffic lawyer - I have gotten off numerous minor tickets in Houston and Harris County...Im sure our laws are different - but a good lawyer (a good recommended traffic lawyer) can get you off almost always. I think my guy schedules my court dates when the officer is out on vacation or something lol.

Worth

PS I keep his number in my new G35...I dont race, but I drive hard.
