Question Transmission and Differential

Is any one planning on changing their Tranny and Diff fluid to something like Royal Purple or Redline synthetic?

My understanding from several sources is that changing to a high grade synthetic can reduce parasitic losses in HP to the rear wheels as well as extend the life of those components.

Please give input. I am considering the change soon.

Eric

I'm not a mechanic, but in my experience both factors really depend on the weight and the type of the lubricant. I've been a member of other car clubs and some people swear by certain gear oils and some people swear by others. Anyone have a solid opinion on this?

PS - I had a '92 3000GT VR-4 with all OEM recommended fluids in all 3 gearboxes. I never ran into the transmission trouble that many other owners had. Just FYI...

The only non-OEM lubricant I've been impressed with is Swepco... and believe it or not, we used Swepco ATF in our trannies because the fluid seemed to bind better to the synchros.

I use swepco 210 for my diff. best stuff i've ever found! I just learned about a new tranny fluid - GM synchromesh part#12345349. works great so far, but i've only had it in for a few hundred miles + 200mi at the track. s2k owners are raving about it these days after bad luck with other non-honda tranny fluid.

I posted this on the other thread:

A lot of cars will show a power increase after ANY oil change... the test would only be normalized if they changed the oil, put in fresh OEM oil, dyno'd it, and then drained the OEM oil and put in Royal Purple and then dyno'd it.
