Is that a Porsche ?
Haha, well, I was driving threw Santana Row and listing to peoples comments as I drove by. The one that stuck out is, " Is that a Porsche? " The lady was asking her husband.
This is actually the 8th time someone either asked if it was a porsche, thought it was a porsche, or said it looked like one.
Also the other day a guy walks up to me. " Is that the new Mustang? " I count not help but to laugh, and then just told him what it was.
Kind of surprising with the car being out as long as it has been, some people still have no idea.
So, what have people called your car?

I've also received plenty of Porsche related comments on my Z but the one that sticks out was when someone called it a poor man's Porsche... It kind of hit a nerve because although the Z doesn't have an $80k price tag, Nissan isn't exactly giving them away.
Still I love the car and all the attention that comes with it, I mean eventhough the car has been around long enough for people to have seen it, everyone still wants to take a peek or say something about it.

Kinda like the old Datsun Z's being called a "poor man's Jag" since the 240-280 bodies are a little like an E-type. I like the Z and am hoping to get one soon, in all fairness though, I'd still rather have either an E-type or a new Porsche (911, etc. not Boxster). But the Z was never meant to be one of those cars, it aims for a different market and we'll love it for what it is. Regardless of what the jealous ones say.

I've had that question asked to me a couple of times. Usually they just ask "What is that?" or "How much did that thing cost?!" though. Most of the time it's usually compliments though.

My neighbor across the street thought it was a Lexus SC430 with the top up when he saw my Z from behind in the driveway from a distance for the first time....
Surprisingly, I haven't gotten that many Porsche comments. About the closest thing I got to a Porsche comment was when I was at the car wash vacuuming it out and a guy drying his Porsche 944 walked over to tell me he loved the looks of the Z.

And about people asking about the price. Today ALONE I had FOUR people ask me about the price. The guess amoung most people who ask is 40k.

a couple weeks ago, i had an old guy, probably around 60 drive next to me in he's new M3 at a car wash. I get out of my car and start prepping for the car wash, he does the same.
he then comes up to me and says, "nice porsche"
i humbly told him, "sir, it isn't a porsche, its a nissan 350z."
he then gave me the most freakin snobby up tight look and said "oh its a nissan"
i then told him, "nice M5."
with the same expression he tells me. "its an M3."
i gave him the exact look he gave me and said, "my bad"

When a bunch went to Nationals (a restaurant/bar) in Torrance, the manager noticed there were a whole bunch of similar cars pulling in and asked what was going on. Something to the effect of, "I saw all these Porsches driving in and..."
This shot of the fab kit makes it look very much like a Porsche IMHO, though the engine's in the wrong place!

My co-worker frequently asks, "So how's the Jap Porsche?"
He's an older guy that knows his older cars... I just designate the question with a "fine" and say no more about it.
