Default Just got caught doing triple digit speeds

Well, it was bound to happen. My first ticket in the Z. Got caught doing 100 in 65 zone on I-85 N, but i didn't go to jail. The only reason, according to the cop, is because i was an Organ Donor. God, the only day where i didn't take my Valantine V1

Now my question is, will my license get suspened because of this? Should i plead no-lo or should i just pay the fine and get it over with? My last ticket was 2 years ago for running a red light. Should i hire a lawyer for this?

i'm so screwed right now..........

Dude....That sucks. I haven't been so much as pulled over in the last 7 years, so I'm not a great one to give advice on this topic, but I'd imagine the concensus is going to be to get a lawyer and see what he can work out with the DA. It might end up costing you a little more up front, but could potentially save you some $$$ in the long run. Good luck, and let us know what happens.

Ya get a lawyer. I'm really suprised he didn't haul your @ss in right away. Lets put it this way, if you don't get a lawyer your license will probably be suspended for doing 35 over.

Sorry to say this, but you will have to pay the fine. Since he didn't haul you in on the spot you can expect a hefty, hefty fine. I was nabbed on I75 inside the perimiter doing 81 (I swear I was only doing 80) in a 55. $315 fine. Unless you have a witness that you were not going the speed you were ticketed for you have no leg to stand on. The only way you could get out of it is if there is something incorrect on the ticket. Name, date, license number, etc..

I'm curious to know what your fine will be. I had to call and ask since their automated system never works.

Sucks to be caught.

I think the main point isn't that he was caught speeding, it was the he was caught doing 35 over. Unless he finds some small screw up with the cop, he's probably looking at over a 1k fine and/or a suspended license.

Sorry man that sucks. Z04 - you should not say anything about him speeding. Everyone speeds everyday. Think of how many times your on a highway. The speed limit says 55 or 65, and everyone is doing 85, the slow people are doing 70. It happens man. I feel for you. If there is a possibility that you can get your license suspended, then i would get a lawyer, just so you know exactly where you stand.

now before y'all get bent out of shape i will explain it. if i got caught doing that speed i would pay my fine because i broke the law, plain and simple. i would not come onto a car forum board and cry about it trying to justify my own stupidity for breaking the law.

I don't think he was trying to justify it, he just wanted to know if he could maybe get out of it. If you were faced with a $1000 fine, or the possibility of getting your license suspended, I highly doubt that you would feel the same as you do right now. Try and put yourself in the man's shoes right now.

i know i broke the law and i know that i'm going to eat it one way or another. All i'm trying to do is get some advice from some of my fellow Z owners.

i didn't think that looking for advice was crying.

I got a speeding ticket a couple of weeks ago. Since this is my 4th ticket in a year, and i already went to traffic school for the first one, and since I've already received my negligent driver notice from dmv a few months back, I figured I have to contest the ticket and hope for the best. I looked up a lawyer specializing in traffic cases, and went to see him yesterday during my lunch hour. He basically looked at my copy ofthe ticket, he said he was going to request a copy of the original ticket (both front and back of it, as officers write notes on the back of them for future reference), and was going to arrange the court dates, as well as represent me when the case came up. He said I may still have to appear in court, though. So, basically he was going to type a letter to send to the traffic court to request a copy of the tickect (he said that the traffic court may not even send him a copy of the ticket), and also was going to set up an appearance date. All this for $1500. I obviously thanked him and left.
If that ticket is the only one you got, I'd say pay the ticket and go to traffic school, if the law in Georgia lets you.

No traffic school in Georgia or at least not here in Atlanta. If there was ever a city that needed one it's here.

well, i just called the DMV and i have 3 points on my license. So its going to 3 points plus 6 for the ticket today. its 15 points or more in the state of GA for a suspension. so it looks like i'm not going to have my license suspended after all

but there goes my tax return money....

oh, i forgot to mention that i got 2 tickets at the same time. The other ticket was for not changing my address after moving away for more than 6 weeks. i didn't even know that was a punishable offense.

really? I wonder if thats also applicable in Ohio. I know once you change your state of residence TO Ohio, you have 30 days to get the OH license.
