Question for 350z Owners w/ Dogs
Hi all,
for those of you with dogs have you added anything to the Z to make transportation easier? Wrigley (who is 35lbs) refuses to stay in the rear deck (in front of strut bar) and likes to sit/lay on the center console (i have an at) which is ok, however he frequently pushes the hazard button.
I was going to cut a small foam pillow or something to put over the console for him to lay on or perhaps buy one of those pet boxes to put on the rear deck. just wanted to see if any of you had done anything creative when traveling with your dog.
Thanks!

yah he's a 3 year old mutt that is non-shedding. I guess if he shed everywhere it might be a different story. He enjoys the wind with the windows rolled down and the weight he adds to the center of the car improves my handling and is good for about 5 rwhp (i'll post dyno numbers soon).

i swear he doesn't shed, we've had him for 2.5 years and he doesn't shed he mats. Imagine a 3 foot long 1.5 foot tall rug that continuosly grows, if you don't shave him now and then he just mats up and looks like a rastafarian.

HAHA.
I still wouldn't let him in my car. I don't let my dogs in my car, but then again one sheds like you wouldn't believe and the other would want to sit on my lap and look out the window while I drove.

I travel w/ my boxer (50lbs) now and then.
Her faovrite spot is in the passanger seat, she sit's up and looks straight ahead like person. it's rather comical.
When I have a passanger (besides the dog) I put the dog in back. There is just enough room for her to stand up next the back tower brace but when she lays down there is more then enough room. The biggest problem I have is how hot it gets back there on a sunny day. So I don't keep her back there for extended periods.
As for the dog hair. I have an old bed sheet I keep folded up and when I have the dog in the car I put it over the passanger seat or spread it out in the back. This works quite well and after the ride I just shake it out and fold it up. My normal wash and vacume once a week takes care of any stray hairs and any nose prints on the window.

re: sunny days and getting hot in the back near the tower brace
I've been thinking of getting my windows tinted for this very reason. So it won't get so hot as we drive around. However CA doesn't allow front window tinting and i feel like just a rear tint would look kinda lame. I posted a thread inquiring about tint alternatives (i.e. decent lookin sun shades, screen, etc) however I'm sure none of you have seen it since the damn search is broken! haha

Funny you should ask this question today, as I just made a Vet appointment Saturday and I was wondering how to get my 80lb. Chocolate Lab and 50lb. Pit Bull to the Vet in the Z. I think I might have to take a cab, as my wife needs the SUV that day.
I really don't want them in the Z anyway, as their claws scratch up all the plastic. If I did put them in there, I would wrap a blanket over the center console and the passenger's seat and just watch that they don't tear the car up.

Yeah, everyone says it looks like a calendar photo. It's funny, but Murphy used to like to lay under that bush in my yard. I then found out that the bush can actually kill dogs. If anyone has a Japanese Yew bush (it has those red berries that get all sticky and gooey if you squeeze them) make sure your dogs stay away from it. It's leaves, berries, and roots are extremely toxic. It is known as the tree of death, as it has even killed cows. I took my bush out. It's a shame because it was like 8 feet high and 10 feet long.
