A year or so ago I heard a rumor of a seriously stripped model to be produced in limited quantities for racers to buy as a starter.
Sport Z Magazine's Mole got his info from pretty high up on the corporate ladder and was told 300hp for sure and no to the SC or TT.
Also remember that Nissan has done something a little different to every anniversary Z produced (80 and 84), so I wouldn't be surprised to see some comemrative things done to the interior and maybe some badges/emblems. Paint scheme could be an option as well. Nissan always liked silver/black (84 300ZX) and gold/black combos and the rear red/black for the 80 280ZX's.

I posted this somewhere in another thread, but it seems appropriate here as well. According to this info from infinitinews.com, and considering the confirmed interior upgrades in the G35, it doesn't seem to likely to expect the 20 hp gain as well. I could be wrong, but $200-250 would be pretty cheap for an extra 20 hp and an upgraded interior.

got a question.... lets say they do bump it to 300hp
how do you think it will be done. if its just exaust and intake would for instance my nismo mods add additional hp to it or would they basically cancel each other out?

However:
When the 350Z was new, everyone was pretty much of the opinion that the engine was de-tuned to 287, it could have been 300 easy but was kept down for political reasons. (agreements with other manufacturers and the Japanese govt.) Common opinion then was that the de-tuning was done in the computer (ECU).
(A strong theory on the reason the G35 has slightly less HP than the 350Z is because of a more restricted intake. A friend with a G35 got a nice boost from a CAI, so that seems to confirm that theory)
My guess is they'll get the extra HP with ECU mods and maybe slight cam/valve changes, so they can still make extra money selling aftermarket exhaust & intake.

yeah i know.....it would make me mad if the 05 produced 300 with out intake/exaust mods and my mods had a potential to produce 10-12 more hp on an 05!!! i goin to agree with you and say the hp bump might come from an ECU tweak and maybe somthing like a different plenium if the 05 produces 300 by freeing up more air then what i already have wouyld be comprable....get what im sayin??
i guess ill have to go the ECU route in the future but jeff at performance said that according to nismo NA there was no aftermarket ECU in the works for the US
getting a 05 Z is out of the question cause i already got a 05 C6 ordered. and plan on selling my Z in a few years to go to my GT-R fund.

I don't think there will be any major changes either. The exception being a paint/interior package for the anniversary model and maybe a 5hp bump with some intake/exhaust work. Probably something craZy like $5k more. Nothing to get up in our panties over. I think Nissan is saving for the intro of the new flagship car (the Skyline) into the U.S. Probably 2006-2007 we will see some actual HP increases or major changes in the Z. Then we can all trade in!
Nissan is a bit overexuberant when it comes to HP claims. Common...folks...this car is rated at 287hp, and I only dynoed 227whp with a pop charger! That is a solid 20% drivetrain loss. And this is a car with a composite driveshaft, aluminum everything...and the like. A BMW M3 has a claimed 330hp at the crank, and dynos at close to 300whp.
If Nissan suddenly claims 300hp...I'm going to fall asleep..it means nothing.

From what i my dealer told me, (they probably don't know ish) but they said the engines going to be the same output and the only things that are going to be different is just minor cosmetics... i doubt they're going to remake the Z, corrections do anything else to soup it up more, because of the GTR concept coming out in 06, but who knows.... i hope they don't, i just got my Z, not even 400miles.

most z's dyno stock at 230-240. once again, dont take a dyno as gospel, many many variables come into play, including dynos themselves. you cant ever compare readings unless they are done back to back within the hour, because readings can change by teh hour due to weather alone.

The changes include the introduction of a new coupe Sport model, a redesigned exterior appearance for the sedan and a redesigned instrument panel and console area with aluminum trim or optional wood trim on both the 2005 G35 coupe and G35 sedan.
Another major enhancement for the new model year is an increase in power for all G35 sedans to 277 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque (from 260 hp/260 lb-ft). The G35 sedan lineup, which added a new all-wheel drive version in the 2004 model year, also receives new exterior styling for 2005 – featuring a new hood, grille, bumpers, side sills, taillights and wheels.
The G35 coupe’s new Sport model will be available in an advanced 5-speed automatic transmission or with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. The Sport 6MT model receives an additional 15-plus horsepower over automatic-equipped G35 coupe’s standard 280 horsepower, bringing its power to the 295-horsepower range (final figures to be released later).
In addition, the manual transmission design on both coupe and sedan models has been improved to provide a lower shifting effort.
The 2005 G35 sedan will be offered in four models, each equipped with a standard 3.5-liter V6, 4-wheel independent suspension and the refined exterior. For 2005, the sport-tuned suspension package has been upgraded with 18-inch lightweight cast aluminum wheels with 235/45R18 tires and drilled aluminum pedals.
The G35 coupe will be offered in three models for 2005, Coupe, Coupe Sport A/T and Coupe Sport 6MT. Both Sport models include a new sport-tuned suspension, Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (V-LSD), 19-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels and drilled aluminum pedals.

19" forged wheels on 2005 G35 coupe!!! and 295hp on the 6 speed model.
Z must have at least 300hp if that's the case.
By the way, I am living in Canada. I think G35 coupe 6 speed has better deal than 350z. Same price tag as Track Model as Z, but it has sunroof, leather, and nice stereo (Plus, G35 brembo model has black interior).
I think Canadian Z is really sucks... (white Z only available on non-brembo models and only white interior is available).
I really love Z, but Canadian Z is really sucky.... = (
