Angry My Z died on the way home tonight

Well, I had the Z at the dealer today to replace my blown lifter on the hatch, grease issue on passanger window (already had the driverside fixed) and reset driverside window,(window would not stay up).
So I am about 45 minutes into my hour drive home and, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. DEAD! Car looses all power and goes into a stall, no PS or PB nothing. So I throw on the four ways and coast onto the shoulder which is not even wide enough to fit the car and sit there for 2 hours before the tow truck arrives,(not their fault, they came from Jerset to PA).

So lets see what tomorrow brings. I'll post tomorrow with the outcome of yet ANOTHER PROBLEM!

But yet somehow I seem to love my baby more and more each day, it is a damn obsession!

Later.

This has happened to another user that I remember here... might have something to do with that recall, but not sure about this particular incident. The user here had her car stall out in the middle of the road, but I think she got it started again. Disturbing nonetheless.

Your car may have stalled due to a faulty crank position sensor. There was a reacall on some early Z's, but I belive it has happened in later Z's also.

Here is the TSB about crank sensor issue. Hope this helps

Defect:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR MAY HAVE AN IMPROPER SOLDER JOINT DUE TO SOLDER DEFORMATION CAUSED BY HEAT STRESS ACCELERATED BY THE EXISTENCE OF FLUX RESIDUE DURING THE SOLDERING PROCESS.
Consequence:
THIS COULD CAUSE THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON, CREATE A NO START CONDITION, CAUSE REDUCED ENGINE POWER, OR CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CRANK POSITION SENSORS. VEHICLES INVOLVED IN A PREVIOUS RECALL CAMPAIGN, 01V357, ARE ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS NEW CAMPAIGN. THE REPLACEMENT SENSORS USED IN THAT CAMPAIGN ARE ALSO AFFECTED. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING DECEMBER 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 OR INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.

Ok, wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong. The dealer called me today at 12 noon, and for the record, props to Lynne's Nissan West. They have been great with everything, the tech check it out and it was a relief, it was a bad alternator. They had to overnight one and the car will be ready tomorrow. They guaranteed me that that is all that was wrong. I have total trust in them as they have in myt opinion never BS'd me. In fact they are paying for my tires (feathering problem) even though I am way over the warranty coverage. 2 weeks from now they are installing my TEIN S Tech's, Nismo front and rear sway bars and Nismo headers. And finally, yes! my kinetix plenum will be delivered on monday and I will install it that night as well as my RT cats and fujitsubo Y pipe to compliment my Apex I exhaust.
