survey on too many miles?
I wanted to take a survey on the date people recieved there cars and how many they have on it to date?
I am a little worried about, that i am putting to many miles on the car. I only drive my car at night and on the weekneds but it seems like the miles just drop on the car like a bomb. Yes i want to get to the break in period. I got my car 9/18 and i have 635miles on it.
I drive my eclipse more on the weekdays, and it seems like no miles are acculmating on the dash.

Theres nothing wrong with only 600 miles. I got mine 9/17 and have 800 miles on it, ill admit though i do take the long routes now untill i et the break in done. Ive hit 5000rpm about 3 times, but usually keep the driving on the mellow side...... So dont worry about the miles, just enjoy the ride! This car should last for 100,000 with hardly any problems, and im sure there are those who will keep it for 150, 200k miles!

Its all relative, dude.
Think about it this way: every mile you add onto a new car is a larger percentage of the total than another car with higher total miles. For instance, 1% of 600 miles would be 6 miles. 1% of 60,000 miles would be 600 miles. So, if you catch what I'm saying, each mile you put on a new car with few total miles feels like you're adding so much, but each mile on a car with many total miles feels like nothing at all.
I wouldn't worry about the mileage if you have 2 cars. I have 1 car, drive it everyday and I still barely put on 10k miles a year. Of course, I work 2 miles from home, but I do go out a lot and on joyrides.
Just my 2% of the dollar for ya.

Miles don't hurt a car. Average miles per year is between 10 and 15K miles. Some people drive 50K miles a year. I'd be more worried about a car that is not driven that often, like those 5 year old exotics with 5K miles on the clock.

The average miles a person puts on a car is 10k - 12k. For me on average last year I put 30k on my eclipse in one year. I just don't want to burn the car out before the 5 year period. That is why i keep the eclipse, so that can take most of the grunt work, but it seems like no miles are being put on that car, and I drive it the most. Go figure
Seems everytime i look down, 100miles jump up on the gauge.

I've had my car for about 1 month, and have 3484 miles on it. Keep in mind that 1441 of that was just driving it home from Texas, so really I've done about 2000 miles. I intend to slow down a bit now that my initial "woohoo new car gotta drive everywhere" rush is over (I usually take the train to work, but I've driven almost every day since I got the car, 104 miles round trip).
The car is running great thought. I wouldnt worry at all.

Got it 8/30/02 and have 1600 miles on it. 60 mile round trip to work equates to 15,000 per year plus I travel for work sometimes. I am not worried until I get 20-30 k on her and then I will think about a commuter. Cars need to drive and the real fun will begin in a few more thousand miles when all the rings are sealed and she is loooooose.
