Default protest gas. DOnt buy Gasoline on May the 19th

Saw this over on s2ki and figured I would forward the message just for the hell of it.

> IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
> PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
> OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

> AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
> OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
> COMPANIES.

> THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR
> behind
> " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF
> GASOLINE THAT DAY.

> THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
> PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

> WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT
> GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES
> THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

> REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT
> THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
> COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON
> EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING
> MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

> WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
> WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

> SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU
> KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF
> THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

I'm sorry I came down on you but after seeing this several times already, it gets irritating. I'm sure you had good intentions but that is what these people that start these chain letters count on. Actually, boycotting the oil companies would force the oil companies to raise their prices. Boycotting gas would only hurt the consumer and the service station owner. We hurt ourselves and the people that really have no control over the prices. Oil is a limited commodity that is greatly affected by supply and demand. The only way to hurt the oil companies is to use alternative fuels and/or permanently cut back on our oil consumption. As long as demand is high and the supply limited, lower prices will not happen.

Peace
Al

You make all valid points.

But again, I posted this just for the hell of it. I never said it would work, I just found it intresting because I myself have NOT seen this. I even said on s2ki that I find all of this highly doubtful.

I guess I should have stated that in the first place.

If folks dont buy gas on the 19th, then they will just buy it on the 18th. Either way gas is gonna be purchased.

yeah, unless you dont DRIVE on the 19th, then your not accomplishing anything. your just delaying your purchase, creating a surplus one day, and a deficit the next. keep it up, if I owned a gas station Id jack up prices on the 20th knowing that people will need gas all the more then.

I read in a magazine article that the U.S. actually buys more crude oil from Canada than from Saudi Arabia by a slight margin.
Damn you, damn you all to hell!

Just out of interest what are you paying for fuel over there? We're currently at US$2.85 per gal for premium.

Well went to my handy dandy currency conversion calculator. That would be about $421.47 Canadian.

you know... the problem with this is that everyone's just gonna go out and buy gas on the 20th. am i missing something? (besides the fact that you could never get enough people on board for something like this to ever work)

Being metric, gas here is sold by the litre. With the conversion, I believe it works out to about 3.70 a gallon. Some other poor Canadian correct me if I`m wrong.
And that`s for cheap 87 octane!
SO stop complaining!

I got an idea! You Americans should claim Iraq as the 52nd state then there will be cheap fuel for everyone, and we shall live happily ever after! Everyone wins!

lol I pay 2.10 for premium, nice having the lowest gas prices in a country that has the lowest gas prices in the world. still sucks to be over 2bucks a gallon.

*remembers when gas was 70cents, and Im only 20years old, so Im not talking about the 70's*

Over here where I live, its around $2.40 a gallon and this is for 87 octane gas. I dont drive much so whenever I do drive, even though of these high gas prices, I usually go around 4000rpm on my shifts and don't really care of the prices. The reason I got this car is because of the performance(and looks); I'm not letting a couple a bucks stop me
