Very Serious Safety Question
I was just looking at some of the pictures. Anyway one, of those pictures from a GReddy installation shows how you should reallocate the Air Bag sensor, so I want to look at my car and nothing I could not find it.
So please if any one has a 350Z 2004 from this region or the UK or the US please post pictures of the location of the air bag sensor.
If it turns out that we don't have one down here, I will sue both Nissan Japan and Saudi Arabia, and that is a promise.
Thank you,
Az

The second picture looks like it's next to the horn, which is on the passenger side of the radiator. Your picture (the circled one), looks like it's at the center line of the car or a little more on the driver's side. Are you sure you checked the area carefully? Are you saying you don't have the crash sensor?

I just checked and I have the sensor. Mine is positioned vertically though and not horizontally like the 2nd picture you posted. It has the yellow plastic part and all (sorry, I don't have a camera with me). Did you ever work on that area of your car? Maybe someone removed it when they were working on it.

I only took my car once to Nissan, and I see your point, but if you look at the pictures, it does not look like there is a wire harness that is not connected, and the bolts are very clean, no chipped paint, nothing.

Well, right now I'm gathering information from all dealers in the area (Gulf).
The dealer in Kuwait agreed to reply to my e-mail (Inquiry) formally and give me full description of the location of the sensor for the Middle East specification, this will prove if I have the sensor or not.
Also the dealer, here in Riyadh agreed to look into the issue, so I will see them tomorrow. I will keep you all posted.
This is a transcript of my telephone conversation with the “After sale Customer care” here in Riyadh.

Az:
“Hello, I have a serious issue, I was looking at some pictures from some Z’s in the US …….. (the whole story) … and then I checked my car and found nothing!!”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Where did you take you car to?”
Az:
“what!”
Nissan Riyadh:
“did you bring it here for service or somewhere else?”
Az:
“No, I took it for service one time and that was at your place”
Nissan Riyadh:
“How many kilometers to you have on the car”
Az:
“Around 3000 kilometers. So anyway, where is that sensor located?”
Nissan Riyadh:
"Do you want to wait until the 5000k service and we will check on this"
Az:
"No, this is a VERY serious issue"
Nissan Riyadh:
“ok. Yes, the car has air bags and sensors”
Az:
“Sir, I know that the car [Should] have air bags, but my question is, where is the air bag crash sensor located, I could not find it in the front of the car, where it suppose to be underneath the hood latch”
Nissan Riyadh:
“yes, its not there, it has been moved”
Az:
“where was it moved to, the sides of the bumper?”
Nissan Riyadh:
“No sir, the air bag sensors are acutely located in the middle of the car”
Az:
“wait a minute, did you say middle of the car, like in the middle of the car!!!”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Yes sir, it’s located just behind the shifter”
Az:
“What do you mean shifter?”
Nissan Riyadh:
“The stick, the transmission stick”
Az:
“Are you kidding? I don’t think any body would put the sensor in the middle of the car, maybe you mean the SRS Diagnosis sensor unit, not the air bag crash sensor” and then I want on explaining me self again and my findings.
Nissan Riyadh:
“No, I’m talking about the sensor.. Let me tell you, previously we got a lot of complaints from customers saying, that the had a small accident and the air bag came out, and they did not want to spend that much money on a small accident, so Nissan have decided to move the sensors back to the middle of the car”
Az:
“Is that a Saudi thing, or did Nissan change that for the whole world?”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Well, I don’t know, maybe they did”
Az:
“Sir, if you would move the sensor to the middle of the car, and have an accident, you will be DEAD before it even knows that the car just had an accident. I find what you say very hard to believe”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Well, don’t jump to conclusions, why don’t you come tomorrow, and we will sort this out.”
Az:
“ok, what time and which location?”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Any time you like”
Az:
“what’s the working hours like?”
Nissan Riyadh:
“form 7:00Am till 3:00PM”
Az:
“hummmmmmm, ok”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Could you please give me your telephone number”
Az:
“Yes sure, 050x-xxx-xxx”
Nissan Riyadh:
“So, are you coming tomorrow?”
Az:
“yes, and whom I’m going to meet with?”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Well, I will direct you to the head of our service department and the head of the electrical division”
Az:
“Good, and could you please give me their names and contact information”
Nissan Riyadh:
“Yes sure, blah blah blah ….etc etc”
Az:
“Thank you, I hope that I’m wrong and that the sensors are moved to sides or something like that”
Nissan Riyadh [In a very “who cares” voice]:
“ha ha ha, don’t worry about”
Az:
“No, this is a very serious matter and should not be taken lightly, this is a matter of life and death. If the air bag would inflate late, it would KILL you. And if my findings are right, then Nissan Saudi Arabia and Nissan Japan, have a very serious matter on their hands that should and would be looked into and investigated”
Nissan Riyadh:
“We will find what’s right”
Az [confused]:
“ok, see tomorrow, thanks”

Could someone with a '04 model post a picture of the sensor.
Thanks,
Az

Whoa! That's something seriously wrong they did. Did you record the conversation on tape? I'd rather have my airbag go off in a small fender bender (isn't even all that likely to happen anyways) rather than not going off at all. Keep us updated on what happens.
