Default Ignorant Nissan Salesman, funny

I just came back from TGI Fridays and Gainesville Nissan brought out a lot of their cars. I noticed a used 03 Touring with the Nismo exhaust and was curious to how it sounded so I asked a salesman to start up the car (it sounded close to stock if you ask me).

Anyways, this salesman was showing two college students the Z and they asked him how a Neon could beat it and the salesman kept saying "it's a Neon, there's no way it could beat the Z." I decided to let it go, but it was funny to hear him talk about the Neon (couldn't really blame the guy, he's a salesman).

After the two guys left, I asked the salesman how much the Nismo exhuast costs and he didn't know. He said that it brings up the horsepower to 330hp!!! LOL, I didn't want to rip the guy apart right there, but damn that made me laugh so much inside. Sorry if this bored you, but I had to share.

The dealership where I bought my wife's Maxima had a Touring w/ a Nismo Exhaust and intake--guess how much the mark up was/---- 3900.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told my salesman that was wrong that you can get both of those for about 1100.00 (not installed) He looked at me and said he didn't know anything about that.

On the other note, I think this is both the salesman and the Dealer's fault because they are not getting educated in their products they are selling nor having an interest in cars themselves.

I have yet to meet a salesperson who knows what the hell they are selling...

All the salespeople I have talked to, while testdriving cars, give you the biggest B.S. stories, it's unbelievable...why can't they hire "competent" people? If i was the owner of the dealership, i would require all of them to read up on the cars and know what the hell they are talking about and have them take tests. I mean, c'mon, it's just common sense to know what you are talking about. I would have "mystery shoppers" go into dealerships and ask random questions that they should know about cars and stuff just to test their knowledge....

Should've told him "you really don't know much about this car, do you?" as you walked away

I suppose he would've told you that Nismo stickers are good for 10rwhp each too, huh?

As a sales manager, I pride my self on knowing the product BETTER than any sales person iin the store, and better than most sales people in the region.

I even feel I know more about he Nissan Altima, 350z, and Quest then most guys at my local nissan store, but

do me a f*cking favor. don't waste a sales persons time to hear an exhust. that person need to put food on the table. He may have lost an oppurtunity because YOU wanted to hear a stupid exhust.

I was looking to buy a Nismo exhaust and it was the first time I've ever even seen one in person. I definitely want to hear how an exhaust sounds before ever spending close to $1,000 for one (by the way, digital recorders aren't the greatest for sound). Also, out of the 7+ salesman at the lot, there were 2 couples of customers excluding myself.

As far as the comment about him putting food on the table, if he wasn't so d@mn ignorant, maybe he would've made a sale on the exhaust system. If someone wants to do good at anything, they have to always try their best and not lie their way through. Go teach your salesmen how to make a sale and then I might actually put consideration in what you say.

A salesman tried to tell me the foam piece that holds the spare tire in place is a subwoofer!! lol!

And Omer, chill out. I know parts makes commission on selling parts, I don't see why floor salesmen couldn't make commission if they sell the part. Then they can buy their family dinner, woohoo!!!!

Aside from the Ford SV salesmen I have yet to meet one that had any idea about the cars they were selling. Stupid salesman and women probably turn off more potential customers then they can possibly attract. I am suprised the dealerships don't do more to educate their sales staff.

Despite my comment about the competency of the SV folks I did end up buying the Z instead of the Cobra.
There is something very special about the Z.

Omer,

where do you work; it sounds like a good place to avoid. Your comment mybe one of the dumbest of all time and clearly lacks professionalism. As long as your one of the best in your region maybe a few of us are gullible enough to visit.

My Lord, find another profession.

KINGOFSCION, you tell us not to "waste a sales person's time to hear an exhaust", well tell your sales person not to waste our time telling us BS stories about a car! The salesmen I've ever dealt with didn't know diddly squat about the car. I know the "Sales" game all too well. I had one tell me that he was not getting any profit out of this deal (TOTAL BS!!) AND that he "had to put food on the table". Well to me, that's a contradicting statement. SALESMEN/WOMEN ARE OUT TO MAKE A PROFIT!!!!! So, the moral of the story is...this salesman didn't lose the opportunity because of someone wanting to hear an exhaust. The salesman lost the sale because he was full of s#!% Cars will sell themselves, all a salesman needs to do is close the sale and the paperwork. my little 2 1/2 cents worth.
