From the post, what little I can deduce is that there is NO option for all alum. kick plates, there is either black plastic kick plates OR black plastic kick plates with Alum. Z in it. The all Alum kick plates was for non-production cars only...is this right>???

I'm looking at the Nissan option form and the optional kickplate reads "Constructed of charcoal polymer with brushed aluminum inserts with the Z logo". The pic shows that approx 75% of the kickplate area is brushed aluminum with the balance plastic.

Interesting. Your first sentence seemed to clear things up. But your second sentence once again has throwm me into confusion.
But based ion the Nissan description you quoted, I now beleive:
Std Kickplates: All plastic. No chrome/silver Z
Opt. Kickplates: The chrome Z in the middle of an all grey background. The all-aluminum pics that have been forever at the nissan site are not the optional, nor the std kickplates.
This makes sense, based on the cost of the kickplates. They are I think $50 bucks from Courtesy Nissan. That sounds about right for a small chrome Z, not an all aluminum plate.

EngineerZ is right. Look at the pic in the black and white accesory paper that was posted here once. Is is black plastic (like the stnd) but with a rectangular, brushed aluminum insert, with a chrome "z" in the middle. Very much like the BMW ones.

The standard kickplate that comes from the factory is black plastic with a raised "Z". The "Z" is the only aluminum portion of the plate.
The dealer option is black plastic with a rectangular plate recessed into the plastic which is approximately 2" X 12" with the "Z" stamped. There's also the square design elements that mimic the wheels, strut bar, etc. It is a definite improvement over the factory installed and well worth the $79. It really completes the look as it mirrors other aluminum components of the vehicle. You won't be disappointed. A confidant showed me the part and he works for Nissan. Believe me or wait and see for yourself and apologize to me later.

If that's the case, then I am really going to be pissed off at Nissan. All along they insinuated that the optional kick plates would be all alluminum like the picture below. I thought they were going to look really cool.
ZISME, what's the deal here??

can anyone tell me if that means when my Z comes there will be an ugly black plastic strip where the kickplates are supposed to be? (as opposed to the aluminum kickplates which would cover that up)

Don't sweat it, you can always get that from the dealer and replace the factory ones. Not a big deal. You are not even out any extra money.

OK- I didn't get the kickplates either (cause I didn't know what they were)...let me make sure I have this thread straight:
Standard: Black plastic with the chrome Z in the middle
Optional: Mostly chrome with a chrome Z stamp
Superspecial (that isn't really an option): the ALL chrome one.
Have I got it right?

I'm curious, where did you see the optional package not being completely brushed aluminum with chrome Z? The dealer showed me a picture of the kickplate I ordered with my Z and it was the same as all the pictures with the brushed alumunum and chrome Z.
