Talking A dream come true Lemans Pics

Well I just got back from meeting with the Middle TN Z Club and some folks from a major automobile magazine. I took lots of pics and ask lots of questions. My digital camera is not the greatest but you will get the idea. I have stuff I would like to share but let me get the pics first. Go ahead and start asking questions. Some I may have to be unclear about!!!

There will be a magazine where there will be pictures of old Z's with the new Z. They used some of the MTZC cars and I was there. I have only been a member for 1 week and I have already been overwhelmed by joy! Hard numbers are embargoed. . . I have heard the numbers I was given on this forum recently. You may not be ecstatic . . . but the number is fine. There are always 2 numbers the other is nice as well.

I think you should let Jay post them. When I sent in my first, he asked me not to post them all in a thread.

Maybe just one more here would be nice though

Also, can you change the thread title to be Le Mans pics, so everyone more easily knows where to go to comment on the outstanding pics?

How does the engine and exhaust sound? Is it similar to a Porsche like on that jp.z.com virtual Z? Did you get to drive it or ride in it? Lets hear some gossip!

Now that you have seen Le Mans, if Nissan gave you the option of changing from Silverstone, with no delay in receiving your car, would you change?

The engine sounded magnificent. It is more raspy than a Porsche, sounded better IMO. I did not drive (I think I could have but I was already too happy). I did go for a very very very spirited drive with the writer. The brembos are AWESOME.

Did anyone seem to have heartburn over you snapping pictures? Were others taking pictures too?

The color is sweet. I am a very big UT hater so Icould never get this color. I think it would get old quickly as well. But is is the best orange color I have ever seen on a car.

Damn you are so lucky! On this "spirited drive" did the car seem to pull pretty hard? I don't care so much about 0-60 times as much as how much it can push you back in the seat. Did he do any hard cornering (does he car seem to lean much through turns)??

Was this a 6-speed? Did the writer make any comments about opinions on how it drove? I hope this new 6-speed tranny is as precise and throws are similar to an S2000 or Porsche 996.

I wish I had video. It was a photo shoot as well so no one minded. There were no NISSAN people. If you remeber bbray's posts you will know I was in some COOL company (other than the car).

UT hater?? LOL When was the last time Vandy won a national football championship?? Just ribbing you man, don't take me serious. I was born in Knoxville at University Hospital. My mother, father, uncle, two brothers, and myself all went to UT. Family tradition you might say. Casey Clausen lives about 20 miles from my home here in California. I thought I was going to get to go to the Championship game again last year if it wasn't for LSU Oh well, we are all part of the Z fraternity now.

At least this time around it looks like the rims were clean (as they have been extremely dirty in every other pic we've seen). Or maybe it's just because it's not a close up of the wheel

Also note how Nissan seems to only be providing Track Models for magazine testing. Read into that what you want.

Yes we have problems when it comes to football (and other things)! HaHa. They also had a M3, it was said that the M3 had more power but the Z felt better. The M was a little ragged out so a fair comparison of power train, etc is difficult.

I sent Jay an email but it says it was too big or wrong address. What is his address? The pics are a total of 5mb.

Yeah, I would assume the M3 would feel faster. Considering the 6-speed M3 does 0-60 in like 4.6 seconds I would not assume the Z would feel as quick. I would think it should feel quicker than a Boxster S however.

While we wait, some more details. The coolest thing I found out was the windows go up and down as the door opens and closes. It obtains a perfect seal. One of the testers was 6'7-6'8. He was a little cramped but he said it was just fine for him. My golf clubs will not fit. . .damn. I guess I will have to figure out something to make that work. I got pics of all the things we have been missing. Cup holders, headliner, behind the seats, etc. The trunk pops with the remote and with a button under the lip of the license plate holder. The trip computer was a trip. It has all those goodies as stated in a post last week. The tire pressure monitor looks to compute off wheel spin. There were only readings while car was moving.

I think the reason the wheel pressure monitors only work when the car is moving is because they use piezoelectric power and therefore need motion to have power. Was the tire pressure monitor just an idiot light or the actual number in PSI??

Did you physically try and put your bag in there? If not, I think there is still hope. I've spent alot of time on this issue (scale bag with scale model, etc), and I think a regular stand bag will fit, if you remove the woods and place them in separately.

If you did physically try, I hope you tried with a Tour Bag.

Also, I had a Nissan employee tell me that there will be a commercial showing a bag fitting. Commercial is some kind of joint thing with Callaway.

Does it tell you the actual tire pressure or does it just have an idicator saying one is low? Did you try the shifter even while parked to see how the throws felt? Did it seem like a long clutch? Was it tight? I can't wait to see the rest of the pics.

I did not drive it I just hung on. The clutch felt like a new car clutch should nothing special. The shifter was nice and precise, a little clicky though. NO one stated it was better than any other shifter, but I understand they if they want to hold on to their opinions until later.

Does it have a shift light at redline or does it come on at some lower RPM for fuel economy? If it's the latter.. that's annoying as hell! And how about the tire pressure monitor; idiot light or actual pressures?

real close to readline. . . right before the limiter kicks in. By the way it is quick. If I had to pull a number out of the air, lets say if one want to go 0-60 as fast as one could they would be doing it in 5.5 seconds :-)

Thanks to you bbray, I had some idea of what was going on at my first meeting when this topic came up. I guesss this is why I was invited along. I did sleep last night but it will be tough from now until September.

Some of the pics I was hesitant to post because I do not want to ruin any of the magazines shots but go here for a cool shot.
