Tire pressure sensor problem

I did a search and learned a lot about the TPS, but I did not find an answer to my particular question.
I now understand that the display does not differentiate left from right because it depends what order the dealer setup the sensors in.
However, is that also the case for Front and Rear?? My problem is that the gauge was telling me my rear tire was a little low. I kept adding air and neither rear tire was registering the increased pressure. When I switched the display to read the Front pressure, one of the front tire had just gone up to 40 PSI. I confirmed this by letting the air back out of the rear tire, and sure enough, the gauge told me the front tire was back down to a normal pressure.
Anybody run into that problem?

The display is keyed to display front and rear, so what you're seeing is definitely abnormal.
I think that the dealer puts the computer or receiver module into a learning mode, either front or rear. Then they spin each tire while the car is on a lift to generate a signal. The computer receives the signal and associates it with the "end" of the car that it's currently learning. Sounds like someone got your car a little backwards. You should take it to the dealer and have them correct it.

First of all, not all cars are equipped with the TPS system, so depending on your trim level, you may or may not have it.
If you do have it, you can view the tire pressures by cycling through the settings on the trip computer (top button, right side of speedo cluster, at least on left-hand drive cars) until you get to a screen that shows a top and bottom integer with either an F (front) or R (Rear). The bottom button will cycle back and forth between Front and Rear. If you don't get this screen, you don't have TPS installed.
For clarification of button location and computer usage, refer to your owners manual...
