Question road noise

ok, I have had my z since may of 2003. I have not had it for a couple of weeks, but my dad has been driving it. I have noticed that it is loud at low speeds, and now my dad mentioned that it was loud when he was driving it. I thought maybe it was normal since this is the first *car* I have ever had. I have always had trucks that didn't sit low to the ground. I was just wondering if this was an issue with feathering, and since i have 17,000 miles on it if it is too late for the dealer to do anything.

It could be. You should definitely search for the many numerous threads that talk about feathering. I've seen a couple pictures on here that are good examples. My parents have had cars where the fronts had feathered before and rears that cupped.

As for road noise in general, the Z is pretty loud in that respect. I'm able to install some RAAMmat in the trunk and in the hole behind the driver's seat where the Bose sub would go.

BTW, why do you think that because you have 17k miles, that it's "too late"? If it's the feathering prob, the NTB04-043 TSB extends the alignment warranty to 24 months/unlimited miles from the original service date. If they need to replace the tires, because you only have 17K, you won't have to pay anything.

I had the same problem. NIssan is aware of the problem and will fix it for free if you take it to your dealership. I took mine in last week and the fixed it for free. They rotated the front to tires and re-aligned the car to nissan's new specs. It is much better now. There is still some noise there but nothing like it was before. I think once I get new tires that it will be OK.

I didn't know if you had to be below certain mileage or not, that is why I said too late. I think I will call my dealer tomorrow and see if they will look at it. Thanks for the replies.

Perhaps you should look at the PDF referenced at https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....feathering+tsb before going. It has all the info you need.
