hm i've been hearing that higher octane and different octane levels dont' really matter and is very insignifcant in performance... as long as it's not like a 87 regular gas. but so what's the use of octane boosters then? i mean in CA we get 91 as highest premium... so for a Z that's a must.
the only thing i can think of is, when someone borrows your car or something (wife, parent, friend) and they dont' know that you gota put high octane premium and decide to go with 87 or 89... and then you hear knocking. THEN you would use the octane booster so it doesn't mess up the car? my guess...

You let people borrow your Z?
I'm speechless
The only use of octane boosters is to make money. If you wanna raise octane for whatever reasons (turbocharging/supercharging/high intake temps) then the best way to do it is not by using the octane boosters that you'd pick up from Pep Boys. Go to a paint store and buy a gallon of toulene and throw it into your full tank. It's cheaper and more effective.
Octane boosters don't work!
I've run every thing from 85 to 91 at different altitudes and found that they all worked fine. I run 87 and, at between 5000 and 7000 ft. and have no problems or loss of power.

Well, since you are at a higher elevation, your effective compression ratio is lower. You can get away with running lower octane. A person at sea level, should not be running anything lower than 91 however, unless they like to test out whether their knock sensor is operating properly.

Right, the stuff at Wal-mart doesn't. But jesseenglish is correct, if you REALLY want to booster your octane use toluene.
