Another piece to the puzzle. In any event, to me any time of 5.5 or less would be acceptable for acceleration. Here's hoping the final ECU tweaks get them above 290HP.

Here's what concerns me. These numbers have been posted on the Zcar.com site and 3 or 4 people have asked Zisme to confirm or deny it. If it's true then Zisme of course will not deny it but at the same time because of the July 3rd embargo, he will no confirm it either. His action should be to stay quiet. But what if these guys at Nissan who are watching the web sites, kinda get pissed off because promises were broken? Could they decide not to spend the extra on us pre-order customers that they were planning to?

Why is everyone hell bent on 0-60 times? 0-60 times are nothing more then one small aspect of the performance window (And almost exclusively a marketing ploy) and if anything from Nissan's past is true the car will be better suited for 60-120 times then 0-60 times.
I personally don't care about 0-60times and will wait for things like 1/4mile, 100-0, skidpad & slalom numbers before I say anything about it's performance, and even then only will my own test drive determine if my pre-order Z will be going home with me.

like someone posted earlier, people will be waiting for ZISME's response on zcar.com
if ZISME does respond and deny the message, then, well, obviously those arent the correct numbers. BUT, if ZISME does not respond, i am sure that will mean (maybe?) that these are the correct numbers, and he might get in trouble for finallizing them. so, i am sure there will be a dozen or more on zcar waiting to see what happens.
btw, if these are the correct numbers, i will be very happy.
i was expecting for more HP, but the 0-60 times were what i had in mind. i am definatly satisfied.

Zgirl, very true.
i am 21 and i am driving a 2001 BMW (rich paps, i dont work)
bad choice, because from now on, i think every other car's interior looks like poop. so, vqracer, take Zgirls advice..
you have many more cars to come, you want to be able to look forward to them, not think about how ur older car was faster.

Once again, our pitiful lives depend on what Zisme says.... JUST KIDDING!
Does anyone recall what the 0-60 was on the 300ZXTT? Isn't the 350Z supposed to be the fastest Z ever?

I feel the same way, I've gone from a 89 suzuki sidekick to a 90 plymouth laser to a 00 celica gts which I am now selling to get a base z. So I'm slowly moving up. My question is for 26 thousand dollars...(less eventually) what other car can you gett stock with 280+ horsepower and a sub 5.6 0-60? maybe a crapmaro or rustang gt but thats it. Those times and powers are remarkable for the apparent quality of th car and its price.

damn, you guys have it nice... my first hooptie was a '78 chevy luv. Believe me when I tell ya 5.5 sounds CRAZY fast, especially compared to every car I've ever owned.
I think I might have to go back to eating top ramen for 2 meals a day, depending on what Z insurance is gonna cost me...

Not sure what to say but..
I am a bit of disappointed... Here are some cars for comparison:
Year Make Model 0-60 1/4mile Source Date
==========================================
2000 Honda S2000 5.2 13.8 MT 2/1/2000
2002 Subaru WRX 5.4 14.1 C&D 10/1/2001
2001 Porsche BoxterS 5.4 13.9 MT 8/1/2001
1999 BMW MCoupe 5.3 13.9 C&D 10/1/1998
These are just a few cars that can match or beat the 0-60 time of our Z. I was hoping to have 0-60 time of 5.0-5.2sec, and 1/4miles around 13.5sec. Looks like I may have to do some mods to the car to get that number.
Thanks!

Track is $34,619 includes destination plus options.. So you are looking at $35k+
I still think for the money, 350Z is a great deal though..

I might be wrong, but I am still of the opinion that this car, when tested properly by several magazines, with the FINAL production version... will be faster than 5.5.
I say this because I was told 5.2 by my souce that has been VERY accurate thus far and that number makes more sense given the torque. Nissan had said the car would be faster than the Boxster Type S and the S2000 and 5.5 isn't, where as 5.2 is.
Granted, 0-60 really doesn't matter that much.... maybe 1 in 10 of us will treat our cars like toys thrashing them every chance we get. Sure, we'll give them a good run from time to time but it's about style and the looks the car gets. The feel as it corners, not the 0-60 leave rubber on the road feeling. haha
Ah well, time for bed.
