Default Dealership doing me wrong

The local dealership has had my car since yesterday morning and said i would get it back that afternoon. I call that afternoon and they said they need to keep it until tomorrow. I asked for a rental and they told me since i dont have a prefered service plan whatever the hell that is and since i didnt buy the car from them that they will not give me a loaner. I AM FURIOUS. I called today at noon and now there saying they had to order a part overnight and wont get "maybe finished" tomorrow afternoon. Are'nt I entitled to a rental paid by them? If they keep my car over the weekend i am going to be very ver very mad. I need a car for work and i work for the military. Its not like i can call in. I talked to the co-owner yesterday and he said i dont even have a loaner to give you if i had one. GRRRRRRRR....I am about to go up there and raise hell from the ground..

The car is in there for a new clutch.

Sorry to hear your woes but you're SOL. They don't have to provide a loaner or rental at their expense. You should have bought the 'Preferred Service Plan" then you would be treated like a VIP.

Correction, you may have bought a 30k, but generally only luxury lines provide loaners. Like Infiniti does, but not Nissan, Lexus does but not Toyota. Thats how its always been, and probably always will be.

sorry to hear about your sitch man. i have a g35c and have brought it in for numerous problems on even more numerous occassions. they treat me alright for the most part, but they never seem to fix my car right the first time. this morning they quote me $90 bux for alignment, now they just called and said it's gonna be $120 bux cuz they quoted me on the "wrong" car despite the fact that it was right in front of his freaking face. i give up...never goin back to them again.

well 30k really isnt alot for a car for one these days

and how can you expect a dealership that you didnt even buy the car from to give you a rental for a so called defective part?you didnt buy the car from them...they didnt profit from you purchasing a car...if your angry call nissan consumer affairs...you bought the car from nissan...not that dealership...

should have paid more and got a prefered maintanance plan.....

cant really be mad at anyone but yourself

no, **** ALL THAT. there is such a thing as good service, and it should be expected. i bought a 350Z, not a sentra. 30K may not seem like a lot to some of you guys, but it does to me, and i guarantee i can get a sales manager's attention with that number.
This is why people are buying BMW's these days. sure, they tend to range toward the higher end, but i promise a guy with a base model 325i would get treated right by the dealer. and how much did he pay? my uncle bought a USED 525i, and his dealer treats him like gold. payed about what i bought my Z for. Wick3d isn't asking for anything he doesn't deserve, and people who are used to getting screwed by dealerships are the ones who perpetuate this crap. now i've kicked in service managers' doors over this kind of stuff, and i know that if you scream loud enough (proverbially, i'm not advocating going postal), and to the right people, someone listens. that, or dealers start losing business. These days, people get online and research before they buy. they ask questions, and they talk to people. even people who live near them and know how their dealership treats customers.

how many people have come up to you guys and asked about your Z? how you like it? WHAT DEALER YOU BOUGHT IT FROM? now i guess i'm an old fashioned, loyal, vindictive m---f----r, but i tell you what. I'm gonna travel 800 miles back to MS to buy my next car from the same dealer i bought my last 2 from. and i won't take my Z to the dealer down the street to get serviced. that's my stand on this stuff. oh, and i ALWAYS fill out the surveys that nissan sends me. i'm sure someone out there is listening.

Stick it out, wick3d. you're right. which dealer is it, anyway?

Where in MS did you get your Z Chuck?

In this situation, they could potentially lock in a future customer by giving great service.

At least thats how I look at it....

Petro automotive in Hattiesburg. bought my last 2 cars there, and i'll go all the way back to do business with them again. service department was great. always bent over backwards for me. i almost hated to move. i STRONGLY recommend them to anyone in the area. Gary Sullivan was my sales guy both times.

Oh and brickyard? i'm not confusing my dealer with a damn thing... except maybe the folks i've bought close to $60K worth of vehicles from so far.

Wow!!! What a rant. You are one pissed off dude. Take a chill pill, a few deep breaths and relax. Life is too short to get so worked up over something like not getting a loaner when you have your car worked on. If you don't, trust me, you will be going into a "repair shop" (read hospital) to have your heart or head checked out.

I was in the exact same situation last year. But I knew beforehand that the wording in my basic waranty specifically says that a rental car is not provided.

So I just acted as understanding as possible, when the manager said he needed to keep the car an extra day (it ended up being almost a week) I would just grit and bear it, saying I understand, but definitely letting him see my disappointment, but at the same time not getting mad or blaming him. The second day he needed to ask to keep my car, I told him "hey, I know you guys do not have to give me a loaner, but if there's anything you can do...". And ta-da, he got me a free loaner telling me it was a thanks for being so understanding.

If you don't have the extended warranty, it's completely their perogative whether to give you a free loaner or not, and if you raise hell, then I think you've reduced your chances.

i just dont get some of you guys....
dont like nissan service depts ? well service somewhere else

dont cry because you bought your car from one dealership but think another should get a loaner?

get real

as far as the comment about us guys defending the dealership are the ones getting screwed...no actually i think we are the ones that the dealership goes the extra steps for..since we are the ones using common sense...

yea you are right its not a sentra..but you believe you should get better treatment because you paid more?
get real fellas

you want a loaner dont be cheap....buy a maintanance plan....its simple

i am a service writer for a dealership (nissan as a matter of fact)
and several guys from this forum service with me...i go out of the way to help them (sugoo, and giglio) to name a couple...

but then they arent complaining and crying about all kinds of petty crap either

i hate to sound harsh but some of the guys in here need to realize that because they have a 350z doesnt mean people should wipe their azzes for them

we own z cars thats no differant than owning a yugo...its a car..chill and take a valium

I dont expect loaner cars, I expect good customer service. I am use to Sewell Service, and have yet to see any of it from a Nissan dept.

"..but you believe you should get better treatment because you paid more?"

uhhh... YES.

"i am a service writer for a dealership (nissan as a matter of fact)"

SURPRISED? NO.

"we own z cars thats no differant than owning a yugo..."

....WHATEVER.

I've found a few dealers that provide good customer service. I won't beg for it and hope the dealer's in a good mood. i demand it, and i'll go out of my way to get it. some of you agree with me, some don't. oh well. for those who don't i'll be waiting for the thread from you guys entitled "just got screwed by the dealer, but it's ok, i deserved it! ". i imagine i might be waiting for a while though.
