Doug & Jim's ExZellent Adventure
OK Guys, If this works it will be pretty cool. As I write this, Doug Stewart and I are cruising through mid-Pennsylvania on our way back from picking up his new Z in Bronx, NY. I'm posting a few tidbits now. I can only get a 14.4 connection on the cell phone.
The planning for the Excellent Adventure began on Thursday, Oct 3. Doug and Randy began the search for a Daytona Blue 350z. After a lot of searching, including on this site, Doug found one that was about to be delivered to the dealership in Bronx, NY. It was apparently the only available Daytona Blue model in the US. Having accumulated several Southwest Airlines flight vouchers in my business travel, I decided that this was an excellent way to use one of them. Yesterday afternoon (Monday), Randy drove Doug and me to the airport. The adventure had begun! Our flights were great, with only a few other passengers on board to cut into our fun time with the flight attendants. See the photo in a later post - have to do this a little at a time.
We spent the night near the Long Island airport and took a $130.00 cab ride to the Bronx at about 8:30. I should mention that we drank a BUNCH of alcohol on the trip. Special thanks to Cheryl, our bartender at BWI airport. She mixes Dewars and water just like I do it at home – VERY BIG and VERY STRONG. Way to go girl!
As I post this it's about 10:00 PM Tuesday, Eastern Time - Feel free to call us and keep us company on our trip. We'll be up most of the night. This is Doug's cell, so we'll need to keep it short. 615-310-0472.
Photos follow if this works - they will be very small.

Were back we got into Nashville about 2:30 today. It was a 13 hour trip.
love the car it performed flawlessly, also got enough miles on the
car so now it's broke in here comes the redline. Jim drove a little and surprised a squirrel that was running across highway 81. Poor little guy. We really did try to miss him, but at 80 mph, there's only so much you can do.
We'll recap the trip, this time with better photos, a little at a time.. Here's a photo Cheryl took of us (she is the now famous bartender at Baltimore/Washington International airport)
Truly classic trip. More to come

When we got Doug's car home, we took some photos. Here's what his Z looks like from underneath. This is a composite - not perfectly accurate. Enjoy.

Sorry for the delay in posting more photos from our trip to pick up Doug's Z.
Here's an interesting one. This is just on the other side of the NJ Turnpike ticket plaza. Had to scramble for my camera for this one, which explains the low res - we were about 100 yds away whan I managed to shoot this out the back window of Doug's new 350.
Can't see the damage, but the 300 got crunched pretty good in the right rear. A VERY bummed owner was hanging out next to the car.
We drove less than 5 ft away from where he was standing. When we passed him, he did manage to smile a bit at the shiny blue 350 we were in.
Sure he saw a bit of irony in it. We sure did, considering the purpose of our trip.
