Default Yet another break-in thread.

I know that this has been a long debate. One side says that it's better to wait until 1200 miles the other one says that it's better to drive hard to make sure you piston gets the maximum possible stroke. I guess I am from the second group and I don't really want to debate the issue with the first group again. I want to hear from those who did break-in their cars agressively and how do they like it. How does it compare to other Z's? Did it develop any engine/tranny problem? Anything else you could add is greatly appriciated.

P.S. Again, I don't want to argue with the first (conservative breaker-iners group) altough I respect their opinion.

How do you define "aggressive". If it's consistently reving to the redline then I don't qualify by a long shot. If its, occasionally reving past the recommended 4000 limit then I'm guilty. I am approaching the 1200 mi mark and will probably be there tomorrow. I have had my Z Roadster only 8 days now but have driven it every day, each day more "aggressive". I hope I don't develop any problems in the future but for now the car is a jewell and seems to run better the more I drive it and the harder I push it. I am looking forward to doing some race launches and redlining.

The nissan engineers don't know what they're talking about. It's only the engine they designed. I broke mine in a little rougher than what was recommended and I wouldn't recommend doing it. Pateince is a virtue. Use as much as you have.

When I talked several autocrossers they told me that they drove their cars (not just Zs) from the beginning the same way they expected to drive it on the course. Taking it to the red line, launches, engine braking etc. So what I wondered about is who of the Z owners did this, if any and if it caused any problems? Judging by responses doesn't look like too many .

I broke my engine in exactly how the below link explained and have had absolutely no problems. I have had several sportbikes as well and broken them in all this way with no problems. If you're running a 4 cylinder bike engine at 160 rwhp, then I think you would know real quick if this method wasn't sound.
