I have read that it is not one central ECU that controls the 350Z. The 350Z utilizes a different technology than any other Nissan. Supposedly it is a distributed processor system, utilizing somewhere around 16 different processors dedicated to different engine functions, all inteconnected and communicating. Also read that the engine speed limiter will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to defeat.

Hmm, interesting. I am not actually interested in defeating the rev limiter. I simply want to take advantage of the display and G-force, 1/4 mile time functionality of the RSM. I only want to sense hte RPM, speed, power and ground wires on the ecu, not cut them!

Just use tap in connectors. That is what I did with my RSM in my Prelude....

LOL

The Z is controlled by ONE main engine ECU, just like every other OBD II auto.

Intrepid, no it isnt! It uses the CAN sysyem which is basically a high speed network connecting multiple control systems together.

The ECU depicted there does have many system taps at hand but the revtap didnt work for me.

I understand it's a CAN networked system. But the main ECU controls the functions we're interested in changing: Fuel and Timing. I've read that the rev limiter can also be set in the main ECU as well (for example: The Mines ECU Mod http://www.prospec-ms.co.uk/merchandise/mines_350z.html)
